Mansplaining

Amelia says it in the preview of this weeks episode. Nothing pisses me off when a woman says it regarding baseball. I played and coached baseball for years and I have to explain the small things inside the game to men as well as women, but women take it as an insult while men are happy to learn something new about the game.

I completely agree. Although, if the context in the promo is the same as the episode then I don't think it had anything to do with baseball. It sounds like he was trying to tell her how bad the situation was, which she is fully aware of, so she felt like he was talking down to her like she didn't understand. That being said, I hate it when woman use that word anytime a man disagrees with them. I highly doubt Oscar was trying to "talk down to her" or feel superior. I don't know why Amelia would bring feminism into it just because they were disagreeing about how something should be handled. I mean, she admits herself that she knows nothing about baseball or how it's run, so that line is irritating. A man can disagree with a woman without it being sexist.

It's simply a technique of arguing when you're exposed as being completely ignorant of a particular topic. This creep of the feelings over logic is going to crumble the West. You hear middle-aged people spout this garbage now.

It is mansplaining because it is her job and yet he is telling her about it like she is clueless.

He wasn't explaining how to do her job.

He was reading her the riot act for not keeping him in the loop. She and Ginny knew about the nude selfies for months, and knew they were coming out for at least a week before informing him of the problem. That is why he was pissed off.

I agree,,plus he was just telling her how it is. It sucks that men aren't held to the same standards, but that's a fact of life at the moment. Even if that wasn't an issue, Ginny isn't some other dude on the field..she's the first female ever to play for the MLB, so of course people are going to be watching her every move. Oscar wasnt saying he was agreeing with it, just that's how it is and he had every right to know sooner. Amelia keeps treating Ginny like one of her actresses, but she's not. Ginny's a ball player..she's only got 15 years or so to play assuming no injuries happen. Amelia can't keep making demands and making Ginny seem difficult to work with or she could loose her shot. There really isn't much wiggle room for her..it's either now or never. I like Amelia, but I hope she gets schooled real quick on how baseball works.

I've never even heard the "word" until now. I'm just tired of people making up new words all of the time. There are thousands of words in the English language with which to express yourself. Use them.

She used the term correctly and in the appropriate context. If you think she honestly needed to be told what he was saying to her, I have to assume you're views are sexist. She's an intelligent woman who does her job well. And he's the type of man who does need to be reminded that women don't need him to explain things for them. It had nothing to do with the sport of baseball.
