Complaining for this show is absolutely ridiculous

I'll start off by saying, yes, this is the place to complain if you don't like a show.

That said, I don't get it. This is a great show if you're a baseball fan. Some cliches? Yup. Realistic show about baseball? Absolutely. There has never been a more realistic show or movie about baseball than this.

In fact, I kind of don't get why someone who doesn't like baseball would watch this, this is very geared toward baseball fans. I think the stuff with how the world would react to the first woman player was dead on correct. The interactions with the players and management is also correct. They use real announcers. The inter-cutting with real play is well done (the all star game was the best).

I do find her "agent" supremely annoying like everyone else, and in reality, a real sports agent would have signed her the second she signed a minor league contract. I don't think this woman in real life would have gotten her foot in the door with Ginny. A real agent with a legit female prospect would have had her lined up with endorsements long before she got to the majors (under the assumption she was a legit prospect which in the show she is).

Also, yes, I don't really buy her as a pitcher, I do not think the first MLB female will be a pitcher, she will be a 2nd baseman or possibly a shortstop, a slap hitter who will just spray balls all over like Ichiro. That said, the truly unrealistic part was watching Ginny in the batting cage - she wouldn't connect with the a real MLB pitch, let along get balls hit into the infield. She swung like many of the crappy girl players I see in coed softball I play on.

They also point out correctly she is not the first woman pro player, which is true.

The stuff with Mike Larson is great. Supposedly the Saved By the Bell guy never played baseball growing up but clearly worked with MLB guys because his swing where he hits the home run was very Major League like, there was tons of bat speed there and it was definitely him, not a stand in.

Overall this is a great show. Again, this IS the place to complain, I just think most of the complaints are not valid. As a baseball fan, I like this show a lot.

It was a great sports show and now it's just another soap opera.

Possibly. Once they kissed out there on the sidewalk, the whole show took a direction no one wanted to see. So you may be right.

Good post but I disagree about being a fan of baseball. You don't have to be a fan to watch because a lot of the show is not about baseball directly. And being a female pitcher will definitely get a lot of women viewers. Ginny should be a pitcher but not a hitter. There are those who pitch but don't hit. I don't see her running to first base to make a catch or grabbing the ball and making good throws to a base like the final episode. Just pitching is enough

I actually hate baseball, I'm a football girl. . And I love love love this show. My husband loves it too. One of the few shows we can watch together and love.
