Just couldn't help themselves.
Had a great show about a baseball team. Great character dynamic, great writing, great story lines. but now they're turning it into another typical soap opera.

shareThe romantic angle has to be there. It's only natural. But to make it work, they have to do it just like Remington Steele and Laura Holt or Rick Castle and Kate Beckett. Ginny and Mike get really close like they did in last week's episode - but NEVER quite connect.
When I saw the almost kiss, I immediately thought of a portion of Laura Holt's opening monologue - "We never mix business with pleasure - well almost never".
Also, Mike's obviously still in love with his ab out to be ex wife. I want to see him start trying to win her back.
This should not be a will they won't they type of show. Especially since the characters dynamic was perfect as a brother sister type of relationship. Their are plenty of other ways to have romance on the show. Mike already had a good relationship they ended for no good reason. They had an opportunity to do something special and different with this show and the creators were either too stupid or lazy to accomplish that.
shareObviously I disagree. There's something else about them that reminds me of Rick Castle and Kate Beckett and their will they or won't they relationship. They NEVER called each other by their first names - unless something big was about to happe Whenever Mike addressed her as Ginny, I immediately thought of Castle. Because it's the same thing here - first names aren't used by the two of them. This was the first time he ever addressed her by using her first name. And unless something MAJOR was about to happen on Castle, Beckett and Castle never addressed each other by their first names either.
But I do want them to go another way with Mike. They gave the character three options and I wanted him to take the third one. He's obviously still very much in love with his about to ex-wife. I want to see Mike make some real attempts to win her back. But so far, the writers haven't even let him try. But I HATE Joanna Garcia with that dowdy, ugly dyed red hair. She was blonde and so beautiful as Cheyenne Montgomery on Reba. But now, with that horrible red hair she's just barely recognizable,
There's something else about them that reminds me of Rick Castle and Kate Beckett and their will they or won't they relationship.
Since when is a supposed male so interested in "shipping"? Is somebody secretly feeding you estrogen?
Ginny and Mike are interesting. Ginny with anyone is interesting. She's very pretty and doesn't have to try hard. As far Mike"s ex wife, she's pretty unforgettable. She's just a secondary character.
shareThat's because they haven't done anything towards advancing a story concerning Mike trying to win her back. They also haven't created much of a back story for the character either. We know Mike's still in love with her, they're about to divorce, she's got a dweeb as a new love in her life and that she works as some sort of a newscaster. She's the one character on the show that's still completely undeveloped. Her backstory and past, just like Mike's still hasn't been told. And those are some gaps that really need to be filled in.
shareWhy do they need to be filled in? Like, why should we care? Isn't she married to the new dude now?
"What race are you? If you don't tell me I'll just...assume the worst."
Why don't you write your question in English? Whatever that is you asked is 100% senseless gibberish. The word married is in there. But it's 100% possible to figure out what your asking! However, Blip and Evelyn are the only married couple on the show. So who the hell or what the hell are you talking about?
shareMy English is fine. Maybe your reading comprehension is the problem. You said the gaps in Mike's ex-wife's backstory really need to be filled in. I asked why. She's just a supporting character.
it's 100% possible to figure out what your asking!Yes. Yes, it is. Also, "you're", not "your".
She may be just a supporting character, but she along with the incomplete story of Mike's child hood are the keys to developing her character and his. We clearly know Ginny's back story.
But other than those bits we saw when Mike played first, we still know very little about his or his wife. Those gaps need to be filled i n for both characters. We know that she's the only woman Mike's ever truly loved, they're in the process of divorcing, (but it's not final), she had an affair (again unexplained as to why - but I could make a guess. When Mike's on the road she's lonely and becomes attracted to somebody at work. When he's in San Diego, it's all Padres, they grow more increasingly more distant because of Mike's increasing like attention towards her and she has the affair). She's also engaged to a dweeb and we still don't even know exactly what type of on air reporter she is. Yes - she was reporting on a sports story. But that wouldn't necessarily make her a female sports reporter.
That's all we know. We don't how Mike's little league coach is also his father or about the kids he was playing with when Mike went to see him - but never did. Every bit of it plus Mike's relationship with his about to be ex have been told in pieces. Pieces that have yet to be completely put together. We don't even know her they met, their courtship or have ever seen them early in their relationship when they should've been as loving a couple as Blip and Evelyn.
If we were to see their backstory, one that shows us how much at one time they loved each and that their love went as deeply as Blip and Evelyn's, then we could start becoming emotionally invested in them. So much so, that we'd want to see Mike start attempting to win her back. But we've seen nothing about their past life together, which makes creating an emotional investment in them as a couple hard to connect with.
And look at the way Mike and Rachel just had their mini-reunion. Rachael even told Mike that she dumped her dweeb boyfriend because she wasn't in love with him. Exactly!!! Mike needs to working on getting Rachael back, but he also needs to conflicted by his feelings for Ginny. They've set it up just right. But we still need more back story.
shareWho's saying he won't be? I was on board with Noah/Ginny until Noah turned out to be a douche with an acoustic guitar that participates in open mic nights to show off what a mediocre musician he is. He'll never be there for her during her recovery from Tommy John surgery like Mike will.
shareGinny merely strained her arm. Tommy John surgery won't be necessary. Pitching and throwing to first are two entirely, different ways of throwing the ball. When you're pitching, you contort your arm into sometimes abnormal positions. But when you're throwing the ball to first, 99% of the team it's a soft throw and your arm stays in it's normal position. Both of those things apply to Ginny's throw to first.
There's an inside reason why they scripted that too. Do you remember Kevin Gregg? He was a fine closer. (There was another player by the same name who was a catcher). Kevin Gregg is who taught Kylie Bunbury had to pitch and he's still working with her as her coach, mentor and consultant. The reason they put her arm injury in the story is because one season, near the end of the year, Kevin Gregg did the exact same thing. He strained his arm when he fielded a bunt and threw to first. I guess you could say it was their way of saluting him because of what he means to the show.
You've got the wrong MLBer...it's not Kevin Gregg; it's Gregg Olson who has been working with the show.
shareWe're both right - they've been using both of them. Last night's injury was a nod to Kevin Gregg. One other thing that amusing is that there was also a catcher named Greg Olsen too! How would you like to have been managing and had all 4 of them on your team?
shareNo, last night's injury was a shout-out to Gregg Olson, who has been training with Bunbury for months.
shareAgain I ask, why should we care? Mike is a main character; the stuff about his childhood is relevant. But unless they plan on making Rachel a regular, there's no point giving us her life story as well.
If they are an endgame couple, I'm sure we will learn more about her and their history in future.
"What race are you? If you don't tell me I'll just...assume the worst."
Ginny and Mike.....VOMIT!! They killed it for me going in that direction. It would've been one thing if she had a crush on him or even if he thought he felt something for her but then just shook it off but bleh. They CW'd the hell out of this show.

This show is aimed more towards chicks than anything. Shows like that, or shows that have a male demo but want to appeal to females always have idiotic love triangles and relationship drama.
I've seen some young male demographic shows go downhill extremely quick after doing that crap.
What were you expecting? This show was meant to be Empire in a Locker Room. No more, no less.
shareI loved more the father daughter dynamic they had in the begining. I didn't like it when they pulled the will they? Won't they?
