Picked up? Canceled?

Anyone have any idea what's going on with the life of this show?

They initially ordered 13 episodes, which have already been filmed. The last show that aired was Number 8 and according to a message on Facebook, there's 2 episodes left for this part of the season, which makes 10. That's means there's still 3 un-aired episodes to go. As of today, Fox hasn't announced any Full Season Pick ups, Cancellations or Renewals yet. But they have published their mid-season schedule. Pitch isn't on it. There's a legitimate reason why it's going on hiatus. But it's also not necessarily bad news. Fox is replacing Pitch with the final episodes of Bones. After those episodes air, the time slot becomes available again. If Pitch returns then, for the rest of the season, then it won't be airing opposite the NFL and the baseball season will be about ready to re-start. Both things would help immensely when it comes to more viewers discovering the show

And here's something else you should find interesting too. I went over to the tvbythenumbers site. Fox currently has 15 shows on their prime time schedule. Pitch is ranked #12, yet it's the 8th Most Viewed series on their network and is only 350,000 viewers behind Gotham! Family Guy's the 5th Most Watched show on Fox, but last week, Pitch had 29,000 more viewers. New Girl is their 6th Most Popular Show. But last week, Ginny outdrew Jess by 1.12 million viewers! If you were a network exec, how would you interpret those numbers when it comes to a full season order for Pitch? If Pitch was to become a "free agent", there's also the option of the Major League Baseball Network. If Pitch was to go there, the series would have a built in audience.

There are only 10 episodes....pilot episode and an additional 9 for the current season. All episodes have been shot.

reply

No. They shot 13. They're holding 3 back.

There were originally supposed to be 13, but the order was reduced to 10. Only 10 filmed.

"People think we didn't get a back-nine and that's not the case; it was supposed to be 10 episodes. We were supposed to be a midseason show and they pulled us up to fall. It was always going 10 because there wasn't enough real estate [at Fox] on the back-end of the schedule. We wanted more episodes and creatively felt like we figured out the show. We knew that it was a long shot. The ratings haven't been robust and that made it harder to make that case. There was some talk about putting us on again in the summer [with original episodes]. Fox, 20th Century Fox TV and MLB love the show. Our fate will be determined in the mid- to late-spring. We're a bubble show but I do feel like they do like the show." what a great show..it better get picked up.

It probably depends on if the mid-season show take off. If you have one or two hits, then Pitch probably won't survive. But who knows anymore since there's show debuting in the fall, winter and summer.

Mid-season doesn't have anything to do with it anymore. Bones series ending episodes aren't anymore than 12. They're going to have an hour long hole in their schedule at the end of March or beginning of April. You don't think they already know how they're going to fill it? Of course they do! And Bones should be replaced with the first 10 episodes of Pitch, to coincide with the beginning of the 2017 baseball season. But television executives aren't bright enough to see the natural segue.
