What is it with this guy? I think he's funny, and I've always enjoyed him in whatever he's in. But what's with all the girls/women he gets cast with? His wife Carrie in the King of Queens, okay fine, believable. But then he goes onto what, two other movies where once again he gets a hot girl? Come on. Now this show! Imagine seeing a woman weighing 250 pounds with a handsome, slim man. Then, seeing that played out in show after show, movie after movie with the same fat lady but a different hot man?
Lol! I loved KOQ and this show seems pretty good so far, but he might've been better off making a Mike and Molly type of show this time. However, Kevin does have a slim wife in true life. Dini
This doesn't surprise me in the slightest! He's a multi millionaire and extremely famous. Plus he has a funny personality. But the common Joe who he always portrays (mall cop, zookeeper, UPS driver, etc) is more likely to have a woman truer to his size.

You're going to have to provide some sort of study or proof of your assertion, otherwise you're just talking out of your butt. And keep in mind that your experience doesn't qualify as proof.
First of all, I don't have to provide PROOF of anything I say. This is a message board. If you feel the need to provide "proof" of everything you say, that's fine for you and go right ahead!
Second, my experience is extensive as my observation skills of the outside world (not just living inside of my house all of my life) show obvious proof of that which I said. If I saw huge men with hot, thin wives all the time then this kind of pairing on Kevin James shows would not stick out like a sore thumb. Maybe I am talking out of my butt, ha ha, but I'm still right ;)
It seems you have some to learn about women. Many appreciate a bigger stockier guy. Not morbidly obese, but the retired football player is very appealing to some women. Actually to lots of them. Same thing with bald guys, or dudes with beards. Women don't go by looks the way guys do. So a guy like Kevin James: funny and big, can be very appealing to a lot of women who are done with the college dating scene. Enough so that I don't find it awkward or forced at all.
That's funny, and thanks for the chuckle. Myself being a woman, and having sisters and many friends throughout the years, I think I might know a thing or two? ha ha. Sure, some women might find big guys attractive, but not everyone would want someone as big as Kevin James. He is dangerously big at this point. But really my point was about why this overweight actor is always paired with a slim, hot woman. You just would NEVER see that done in the opposite direction, like I said. It's really getting old!
By the way, there are of course chubby chasers who are men. Where are those shows? Handsome, slim men who are married to a 250 pounder? That would be the day my friend, that would be the day ;)
I disagree. If I were single and Kevin James were single, I'd be trying my best to get him to ask me out. My husband is a very handsome man who competed as a bodybuilder for 14 years and still lifts. I get compliments about him all the time but I find a variety of men attractive. Fat, buff, tall, short, black, white, Asian, etc. I figured d Terry Crews, Matthew McCounaghey, and Kevin James equally attractive.
That's cool that you are an equal opportunity admirer of men :)
I'm not saying that all women are the same, of course not. But overall this fat man/thin woman thing that's so normal on the screen does not play out as often in real life unless the dude is rolling in dough. Did you by any chance see the Saturday Night Live sketch the other night with Margot Robbie?
I disagree whole-heartedly. I am currently getting over a breakup with a guy who had a body some women wouldn't look twice at, but his body is one of the things I miss most about him. That being said, people's levels of attraction to various body types differ. And most people are not as shallow as sometimes portrayed on television. Many, countless other things provoke attraction.
Of course, I can't speak for 99.999% of women, but I would venture to say you can't either.

REally? that's interesting. I wonder what shows they were referring to. I can only think of Jackie Gleason in the Honeymooners, of course that's going a long way back! What other shows on TV had this dynamic? Other than King of Queens and all the other Kevin James movies...hmm I'll have to put my thinking cap on ;)
Oh, yes, you are right! Homer Simpson, simpering, fat idiot with a thin, sexy and intelligent wife, and I suppose the Family guy but I simply cannot bring myself to watch because of the voice of the main character, and the testicles hanging from his chin. It is outlawed in my house. (love the Simpsons though) But you are right!! See I knew this was a subconscious bug in my head, and seeing Kevin can wait was just the last straw, ha ha!!
Wait I'm confused.. This is a problem? In this day and age when anybody can bascially claim any other outrageous quality about themselves and it should be accepted, in a day and age when 'fat shaming' is a thing, this is a problme to people? Is it really unbelievable that a chubby/fat guy can get a decent looking chick? In a world where we aren't supposed to judge anymore, man, funny how this is still the first thing they will criticise..
If you read my initial post you will see that what I am criticizing is the double standard in Hollywood. Not that a fat person can be coupled with a thin person, but that it's always a FAT MAN and a thin, hot lady.
Where are the opposites? Please give me as many examples of FAT WOMEN with thin, hot dudes in the media. And give as many examples as there are of fat guys with thin women. So far in this thread there have been....(Simpsons, Jackie Gleason, Family Guy, According to Jim, Kevin can Wait, King of Queens, Zookeeper, Mall Cop, Flintstones) there's 9 right there. Okay, please give me 9 examples of 250 pound and up women with svelte, healthy, good looking husbands/boyfriends. Thanks!
Let's start off easy. . King of Queens lol Still standing According to Jim Honeymooners Modern family Grounded for life Family matters George Lopez show Fresh Prince of Bellaire Just the 10 of us Even an epidemic in cartoons too King of hill Flintstones Simpsons Family Guy
seems like a new trend of fat people TV again. this show along with American Housewife both have big boned leads and the fat jokes piled in for comedic effect.
i suppose there is a market for it as it helps to fill the mike & molly void.
Oh, that's interesting! I'm not familiar with American Housewife, who is the "big boned one" in that? If they need to fill the Mike and Molly hole, they should see how a fat woman/thin handsome man combo would go over!
Do you know, I was thinking exactly the same thing. All these modern sitcoms, and let's be honest, all TV shows from the US have these slim, long haired beauties in all the major female roles, it's like there is a production line for them. Cop, slim, long legged, tumbling locks. Wife, no matter how old or fat the hubby, slim, long legged, tumbling locks. Leading doctor, detective, sidekick, yeah, you get the picture. The most embarrassing one recently? The Odd Couple, Matthew Perry, very talented, but, way past his best in the looks department, but, okay for a chap when it comes to casting a part and the dolly bird, way younger than him girl who was attracted to him, admittedly I only watched the first four or five episodes, I gave up after that. How I long for the days of Debra Barone or Jill Taylor, real women who are actually the same age as their screen husbands.
Bravo!! Very aptly put! I loved Everybody Loves Raymond too, but one of my favorite re-runs is The Waltons. That show had pretty much everything good going for it, until they changed John Boy out. That wife was also the same age as her husband, and her husband didn't weigh 300 pounds.
Roseanne was also a different kind of show, and that got the careers of many stars started. She and John Goodman were about the same size, and it was funny for the time as I recall. You are so RIGHT about the cops/doctor/scientist/lawyer: long legs, long locks, ha ha.
Thanks for the warning about the Odd Couple and Matthew Perry's new show, I won't be checking those out.
I have a confession to make, though. One of my favorite shows is Breaking Bad, and on that show there is a heavy DEA agent with a slim, pretty wife. But the way I see it, a cop usually starts out thin and in shape (in order to pass the physical tests) and that's when she would have also met him. Also he's pretty darn macho.
