Shows like this are exactly why I stopped watching network TV

I watch HBO, Showtime etc. almost exclusively now. Except for Modern Family and Sunday night cartoons. I'm of the opinion that the worst show on HBO is better then the best show on network TV. You know when the previews are piss poor and draw no laughs, the show is going to colossally suck. If they can't find even one thing funny to put in the trailer, what's the 1/2 going to be like?

The only hope they have is a major overall of the formula and writing. I watched King of Queens since it began; if you notice, the first season Carrie was almost always pleasant and agreeable. The TV powers decided the show needed more conflict (or contrast) to make it more interesting. So from the second season on, Carrie was adversarial, argumentative etc.

Admittedly that change worked for KoQ. Both it and Kevin James were funny, but Kevin James is pretty one dimensional in his acting, so they've got their work cut out for them.
