Isn't Kevin James
pretty much playing the same type of character he played in The King of Queens? Overweight dude married to good looking girl.

Yes show seems like koq with kids.i swear they put the kids in it just so it doesn't remind people of koq. and the garage guy LMAO shows watchable but STUPID
shareIt's basically the exact same character. But it worked for me then and it works for me now. A lot of it is probably just Kevin James' type of humor. The food and fat jokes have to be part of it, because let's face it. He's a large fellow. In a way it's sort of like how everybody complains about how Vince Vaughn is always the same character, but that's exactly what makes me want to watch his movies. If it works, go with it I say.
shareIt's like he's trying too hard or acting too hard in this new show. It just seems so fake that it's not funny, just kind of uncomfortable to watch. The whole bit where he played the surrogate wife to that tall guy's 7 kids was awful.
After this episode we watched a couple of episodes of KoQ and he was so much better and more natural there and every joke wasn't forced like in KCW.
I was hoping that by now the show would have grown on me at least a little bit, but I guess it is what it is and isn't going to change or improve.
I don't share your opinion but I can respect that. Ofcourse as is with most first seasons of a show there's certainly room for improvement. I hope it does improve and that you and everybody else start to enjoy it and that it lasts for a long time.
shareIt's getting worse though. I really want it to succeed, but since the Romano episode, which I hated, every episode since seems to be getting progressively worse.
The fact the funniest character in the Xmas episode was one of Mott's kids tells us all we need to know.
I agree with Houstonhacker. Kevin is trying way too hard and to me, seems to be overacting. The only time I laughed during last night's episode was when Kevin fell off the roof! Kevin's physical comedy is where he shines!

Yeah, at this point they'd be better off showing 30 minutes of Kevin James' pratfalls with the Benny Hill theme song Yakety Sax running in the background. lol
