Bad writing
It takes place in Chicago and they mention not to go north on Foster Ave because of gangs. Foster runs east and west. No excuse for not knowing something like this.

shareYes, they should have said... Don't go ANYWHERE because of the gangs!
shareI know you are trying to be funny (and it was), but the truth is that most of the shootings are on the south and west sides of the city. While there are gangs in most parts of the city, the ones that are in a constant state of war over drug corners aren't anywhere near Foster.
Also, there is no excuse for getting the geography of a city wrong in a TV show. Especially when the play you are taking it from got all of that stuff right. It's a minor thing on an insignificant tv show, but it says something to me about the showrunner and people in charge not
caring enough to make sure the facts are right.
Are you sure he didn't say to not go north OF Foster?
"Check yourself, Loretta, before you wreck yourself"
Yes. I just watched the scene again. 100% sure.
Franco to Sweatpants: "Look. Don't go north on Foster Avenue. Some of those sprinkles are gang colors."
Also did you notice the Iraqi guy said he was drinking a caramel frappacino but it looked like an iced latte.
