Even the plot line of the first episode was similar to CATM. The difference was , enter an Hispanic man as opposed to a black man.
shareThis is based on a play. I'm not sure if Chico was or not. I can't remember. I didn't like Chico and the Man and I kind of like this so far. At least I think it has potential. We'll see.
shareA lot of people are comparing it to "Chico and the Man", but more likely its based on "Dough", a British dramedy you can catch on Netflix. The plot is identical, Old Jewish baker having a hard time adjusting to changing neighborhood, hires young Black man who helps him revitalize his business and his life. Now Black man in "Dough" initially gets him new customers by adding marijuana in the baked goods but I'll bet dollars to donuts, they'll "accidentally" do this in an episode.
