Justin Lin has stated that he open is any past characters making appearances in these next two instalments. As for the character of Brian, Lin has stated that he is looking for an appropriate way the bring him back.

Michael Caine: Would fit the bill for Shaw Sr. perfectly. If not then maybe either Liam Neeson, Timothy Dalton or Pierce Brosnan would be good
