I was thinking the same thing. This ain't the Archie I grew up with.

It's more in line with the Archie that's currently very popular i.e. the Archie Horror label.

The 2 Archie horror comics are genius.

And fans love the Mark Waid comics which made Archie more mature.

The people complaining that Archie should be silly and funny probably haven't cared about Archie in several years.
