Is it worth looking up the 2001 Josie movie?

I never saw it.

Yes! It's actually a very smart satire of the music industry, world of celebrity, and product placement, which seemed to fly over a lot of peoples' heads who were probably expecting a simple girly musical.

It's an unappreciated gem.

It's incredibly racist by today's standards, as they kept the racist source material of only one black girl instead of making them all black. *rolls eyes*

In the original cartoon there was only black girl. That being said this was back in the 70's I believe when the world wasn't so politically correct & butt-hurt over unimportant stuff like a cartoon, television show or comic book. Don't get me wrong I'm all for political correctness & equal rights but sometimes it goes to far.

You can see it if you want but I am sure it will have little to do with this. Heck, doubt Archie is a requirement either.

.....Zing!

No. The Josie and the Pussycats movie, even though it does take a few clever swipes at the media and music industry really isnt that great and it seems so dated. It may have been released in 2001 but it feels like a 1990s relic especially with most of the people who are the main cast who were only popular back then.

When there's no more room in Hollywood, remakes shall walk the Earth.

As the person who first responded said it a smart & funny satire of teen bands & the music industry. I won tickets to a pre screening when it was first released thru a contest in the local newspaper I read. After it was over they gave everybody @ the screening a cd of the movie soundtrack. I really liked it, That being said I like most movies I watch. If you want to check it out & it's not on one something like Netflix I wouldn't pay over $ 20 for the Blu/ray dvd.

reply

No. It's crap.

I enjoyed it. It had it's moment. Nowadays, it's probably a little outdated, some of the acting is just okay but it's generally a fun movie if you want something to watch for awhile and just take it how it is.
