how is this "nothing like twin peaks"? the 50s aesthetic and small town murder is literally two of twin peaks' notable characteristics.

from what i remember of one tree hill, they didn't have a murder mystery in the first season.

Just because similar plot lines are there doesn't make it the same thing. Twin Peaks is a weird, surreal, and amazing. The mood to Riverdale will not be the same at all.

well yeah i'm not saying that riverdale and twin peaks are having the same mood. but it's clear that they are inspired by twin peaks. they've confirmed this numerous times.

It is based on the Archie, Betty and Veronica, Josie and The Pussycats, and even Sabrina The Teenage Witch comic books. They take the comic's which are set in the 1950's and twist them to show a modern, darker side to the town of the comics, which is the town of Riverdale. I'm surprised that Reggie isn't shown more, since he is Archie's main rival in the comic books.

I'm not sure about it always being set in the present. I grew up reading them in the late 70s/ early 80s and they always had a 50s feel to them. I'm thinking they probably changed that, maybe in the 2000s?

This might motivate me to go through the literally hundreds of Archies I have in my attic :P

I just learned about this show. I wonder if it'll be campy or if it will take a darker tone. I'm hoping for the former, but I don't want it to end up like suicide squad.
