I love what Berlanti has done with his DC shows. He's been respectful to the source material, and even when they've made changes, it has worked very well. As someone who grew up reading any comic book I could get my hands on, I obviously read Archie books. And...yeah, this looks abysmal. I realize they're basing it more on the "real world" books that have been released in the last few years, but the Riverdale gang just looks terrible. And a hot chick as Ms. Grundy? No sir, I do not like it. I must accept there will never be a live action version of the Archie comics that will ever be worthwhile.

Exterminate!

I've seen the first episode, it is beautifully dark and edgy. The cinemetography is just stunning. And the actors are all gorgeous.

Trouble is it is edgy...to the point where it borders on irreverence. That's not to say it is satire. This is deadly serious. This stuff will ruin your childhood. Have you see the fake Riverdale trailer on Youtube? It's like the Archie Universe people saw that and said "We totally need to do that, only lets kick it up a notch."

I'm still going to watch, since it's gorgeous, but I wish they had changed the names at least since those lovable goofy teens were such a big part of people's childhoods.

Yeah it looks like @ss.

But on the other hand, at least many people won't watch it.

Young people, in general, don't read Archie as much so this will fly under the radar. Older folks who grew up on Archie during its heyday will surely stay away from this.

Hopefully this tanks and they make no more of these.

next....edgy scooby-doo gets neutered, he and shaggy go into rehab, and have to solve the mystery of "why does entertainment media want to rape my childhood?"....w/ a sub-plot about fred decapitating velma.

jughead keeps his eyes closed, drives off of a cliff....? gets stomach cancer from too many hamburgers? can't wait to see.......NOT!

Nope the next one would be Sabrina and her aunts doing actual animal sacrifice on TV.
