I love what Berlanti has done with his DC shows. He's been respectful to the source material, and even when they've made changes, it has worked very well. As someone who grew up reading any comic book I could get my hands on, I obviously read Archie books. And...yeah, this looks abysmal. I realize they're basing it more on the "real world" books that have been released in the last few years, but the Riverdale gang just looks terrible. And a hot chick as Ms. Grundy? No sir, I do not like it. I must accept there will never be a live action version of the Archie comics that will ever be worthwhile.

Berlanti is only the producer. He's not a writer. He's name being attached is what helped this show land on CW. The pilot is written by Archie Comic's current COO so if it flops it won't look good for them.

It seems Riverdale will be more of dramedy like iZombie and it will have lots of black comedy. Personally I can't wait.

teen dramas suck, based on anything or nothing.. i never watched friday night lights or any these shows. of recent past.
boring, i started watching dawson;s creek back 16 years ago and that was more than enough. painful

Miss Grundy is hot and young? Fred Andrews is skinny. What will they do with Mr. Weatherbee? Is he going to be young, buff and looking like Joe Manginello or skinny like DJ Qualls? Come on!

I was dismayed to find out that the show appears to be taking it's cues from the 'reboot' version of Archie that is ongoing now. Like Marvel basing a lot of it's films on the Ultimate Universe and DC pulling from the New52 for it's material, Riverdale seems to be using the new run as it's source. As I've only seen a few scans of that, I can't really say one way or another if that's a good idea.

I'm trying to hold off judgement until I see the first previews at least. But it does make me wary...

You can tell something will suck based on concept.. They already have revealed it goimg to be like any other cw teen drama.

Yeah, he's a troll. His other posts on this board are just full of hate. And I also agree that it's dumb to tell if a show will suck or not by the concept alone. I thought -- like many other TV critics -- that The CW's Jane the Virgin was going to be so bad based on the logline alone, but after watching the show and giving it a chance, it's become one of my favorite shows!
