What's the consensus?
Did we all like it or not?
shareI am giving it a go. Thumbs up
shareI'd rather be strapped to a brain washing machine like Alex in A Clockwork Orange and be forced to watch Scream Queens and the Twilight Series than watch this cheese fest.
shareLOL
As of right now, I'm kind of accepting it for what it is and trying to enjoy it on those merits. Which is straight up just another CW drama. Anyone who wants to say it's so much more than that is out of there minds.
We'll see how long I can handle it before I tap out.
Ha ha ha...
Okay, i can live with that.
It just baffles me so many people think this is so "edgy" and "out there" like if this show went father than anyone had gone before... when in reality it is been so overly done that "beating on a dead horse" is not enough of an insult.
And this was the same reaction Scream Queens got on premiere night... and I loath that one.
I don't understand when ppl make such claims. It's strange.
The show is clearly aping Twin Peaks so much it's not even funny. But again, I'm sort of accepting the show for its ridiculousness at this point.
I'm also trying my best to not enjoy the show ironically, which is what some critics are doing.
My biggest problem with the show is that this is the first real, live action depiction of Archie and I hope that it doesn't stunt any sort of development of a true adaptation one day.
I've heard rumors that the show runners want to do Afterlife With Arhchie as a Riverdale Halloween special...For all that is good in this world I hope that does not happen with this particular cast/crew/talent.
I firmly believe Afterlife is a masterpiece and needs to be handled with the proper care if it's adapted.
And you will probably be disappointed, but let's face it... this show won't make it to Halloween... unless it develops a ferocious fan base... I'm scared now
But seriously, critics have gone overboard with this pile of horse ****, it's like critics like things aimed at being stupid lately, like they over praised Ghostbusters 16'.
I mean, it is just another Dawson's Creek show, filled with cliched characters with no real development, and mountains on top of mountains of cheese- If people enjoy that more power to them...
Just don't make it out to be the Next Game of Thrones or something.
It's hard to tell if this show will catch on.
Right now, I don't really see it happening, but more surprising things have happened.
All we need now is a CW version of Peanuts Gang.
God no!
The way the CW is going it'd be a teen Peanuts Gang, anf to be "edgy" it would start at Snoopy's funeral.
something like that.
I mean, why couldn't hey made it a sitcom?
My thoughts exactly.
In this day and age what would be so bad about a teen show( Being more specific, I'm talking about shows about teens not shows targeted towards them) that is actually not moody, plagued with "teh darknessssss...." and rather is more upbeat, optimistic, and well...Colorful, not just teal and orange. Archie could've been that, but the direction they're going here is uneven - A few tiny places it feels like they're aiming to be a dark comedy with Archie characters and the comedy is just the sheer thought of seeing those innocent characters interact in this sort of environment but majorly its playing it straight.
Stylistically, it looks and feels sort of like a Zack Snyder movie if you know what I mean, when a better direction would be something along the lines of Wes Anderson and Barry Sonnenfeld.
COOKIES AND MILK!-Ed
How about giving it a few episodes before really judging. There are lots of shows that sucked when they first started that ended up getting really good. Plus critics have seen the first 4 episodes. Wait til you seen all 4 and maybe it will be a lot better.;
shareI loved it
shareI got bored quickly.
The new more modern comics are really good, so I had some hopes this would be in that vein. Instead, it was just more lame ass CW shlock.
I was hoping if they ever did a live action Archie it would be Afterlife. I'm normally not in for teen *beep* but I love it already anyway. I can't explain it. ¯\_(?)_/¯
shareMy husband and I both got bored about twenty minutes in, but we ended up watching the whole episode. We've got the series set to record but whether we actually watch any more episodes remains to be seen.
You have a brain the size of a planet so don't give me "I dunno."
its from the writers of archie comics people need to give it a try.
shareI like it, I'm going to continue to watch for now. I don't think it's "edgy" or out there or some such, but I do like dark shows. I also like when they put a new twist on an old classic (right now I'm also enjoying Emerald City) so it's not just the same re-telling of a familiar story, and I always like seeing familiar stories.
Hot guys + dark subject matter + plenty of violence = watchable television.
I'll definitely watch eppy 2 but i hope they rein in the sass of the gay guy. I cant stand the camp stereotype when they crank up its perkiness to 11. Just by watching american teen tv shows you would think that the straight acting gay male does not exist.
shareIt was a bit too much "sassiness", I agree, same as with other shows. However, on Shadowhunters we can at least see a gay male that doesn't act like that. I like the way the actor portrays Alec very much.
