Enjoyed it even thought I'm old! :)

I watched because like so many on here I enjoyed the comics while I was growing up. I usually hate teen dramas because I'm in my forties and they just don't interest me anymore but for some reason I enjoyed this one.

I do wonder if a campy comic version of this would have been better but we will see. Anxious to see episode 2!

I'm in my forties to and I was so addicted to reading these comic's when I was growing up, that I also decided to give it a try.

Well I am 28 and I felt like I was too old to watch this show. LOL

Its basically what I expected it to be. It wasn't bad. I will give it a few episodes but more likely than not I won't be sticking with it for the long haul. Its a teen soap opera.

40's here, also, and didn't read more than a couple of the comics over the years. I would say this was a decent start. It's a first episode, so it worked hard to establish characters and conflict quickly. A little too quickly at times. They could've stood to stretch a few things into the second episode, as some of the situations and characters came across as too forced, cliched, and over the top. Moose and Reggie, for instance. Even Betty was hard to take at times. I'm hoping as the characters flesh out and the actors settle in, we'll see something beyond the 2-dimensional that we saw tonight. Always hard to say with new dramas, as sometimes they never get past that.

I thought the actors playing Archie and Veronica did well, as did the actors playing the parental roles. Being from the original 90210 generation, it was nice to see Luke Perry again. And Madchen Amick does a great job in these roles.

Hoping that they dial back Josie's bitch persona a bit. Musically, they did well, and in the age of YouTube, I could even buy the "sophomore" giving a lecture on "establishing a brand", but she was completely unlikable as a character. There's the bitch you love to hate (like Cheryl), the bitch you hope reforms, and the plain old bitch. Josie was the latter tonight.

Probably my biggest complaint, and it's so common with teen dramas, is the age. They made the characters sophomores? I could've believed maybe juniors at the youngest. Would've been nice if they aged the characters up a bit to get closer to the actors. Not to mention that the characters behaved like seniors (or older). I know, Hollywood doesn't care about that, as they do this all the time, but would've been nice had they tried.

A decent start for the type of show that it is. Interesting enough to warrant a few more recordings on the DVR.

Well I am 55, so I grew up with the comics and the TV cartoons, and I really liked the first episode. I realize it may be a teen drama, but the promise of a dark side could balance that element out.

Buffy was a teen drama too and I loved it!

Really curious to see where this show goes.

I did not care for the archie comics--or the cartoon which I VAUGLEY remember. I also am from the original 90210 generation, so yes I tuned into see Luke Perry.

He looks like a dad now. Yes and so do several of the guys I went to high school with---we're older duh!!

But he still looks hot.

Part of me thinks they were scheming for a happy days/buffy cross over....anybody else get that vibe??

I too am in my 50's and it's great to see I'm not alone in checking this show out due to the comics from early on. I remember back in the 70's waiting for 11:00 am on Saturday because they had a show called the Sunday Funnies with Archie, which brought the comics in the Sunday newspaper to life.

Another reason I was checking it out because Pretty Little Liars is coming to an end and I needed a replacement lol. People complained about the writing of that show as well, but yet they stayed with it from day one and now awaiting the big reveal of "A".

I have mixed emotions about the show itself but I'm willing to give it a try, hoping for a bit more mystery to build theories.

Hold everything!!!! Madchen Amick is in this? Wow, she was a babe back in the early 90s - Dream Lover, Love Cheat and Steal!

Had a crush on her back when she did Sleepwalkers

I'm a huge BH 90210 fan, I watched mostly for Luke, but it was pretty damn good.
I gave him my heart, and he gave me his fist

If it weren't for him I really would not have been interested in tuning into the series.

Archie is such a classic piece of Pop Americana, people young and old across the generations have a degree of familiarity with the comics and cast of characters. Unlike Marvel and DC, people who bought Archie comics did so because they truly loved to read them, not collect them for some imaginary resale value in the future.

When I'm good, I'm GOOD. When I'm bad, I'm BETTER.

reply

Actually, the majority of the comics I buy are because I love to read them, be they Marvel, DC, Image, Dynamite, Dark Horse, or Archie. Unless I'm looking for grails or hard to find variants, I buy comics to read. If they end up valuable later on, so be it.

I’m 53 (closer to 54) and I enjoyed the first episode too, though I hope they pick up the pace a little. I grew up reading the comics, watching the animated series, and listening to the 45s. (I’m still nostalgic for the song Sugar, Sugar.

Dude, it’s Beacon Hills.

I am 30...grew up reading the Archie comics...also loved CW dramas back when it was the WB. I think this show has potential!

I will defintely keep tuning in.

I remember the comics b/c I had two sisters who use to read them - they both were like 8 and 9 years older than me. I use to like looking at the comics and my sisters would tell me which characters were their favorites. My son told me about this show and said I might like it so I gave it a try and I did, but I had NO idea it was based on the comics, until I came on the board. I should've noticed the character's names but again I was younger so I kind of forgot. I was never into comics only this one b/c of my wonderful fun sisters telling me about it. I will definitely give it a chance.

It was a good pilot. Lot of room to grow but it's interesting. I'll keep watching.

Forty here, and grew up loving the comics. My dad still gives me grief about the fact that I wanted to change my name to Jughead as a kid. And I found myself really digging this premiere. Bring on the next episode!

40's here also. I spent many summers as a kid at my grandparents and my Papaw would take me to the local grocery every Saturday to by an Archie and the gang comic and yes I loved the Saturday morning cartoon fest had to see the gang in Riverdale. As a young adult I was consumed with reliving high school with BH 90210 as well. So when I saw this was on the CW you guessed it this girl tuned in and I must say I've already watched it a second time. I'm hoping there is enough interest to keep it going awhile. I thought the character plots were great and that feel of yesteryear mixed with present day had a familiar flare. I'm already hooked. But I will say I could have gone watching this for many seasons without the Archie/Miss Grundy hookup.
