But now i've heard Sabrina (as in the Teenage Witch) will make appearances at some point

So a cheesy teen drama with every cliche in the book, a murder mystery and now magic???

Oh FFS :/

why is this show getting so much attention and critical praise?

I am gonna give it a few more episodes but so far, other than the exceptional eye candy (Archie, Betty, Veronica, the slutty teacher, the closeted jock) it has been atrociously bad
I guess having an already established fan base has definitely helped it somewhat , if this was an entirely new show with new characters - the people praising it would be the ones calling it crap (like they did with Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and the reboots of 90210 and Melrose Place once upon a time)

at least those shows where actually good-great at some point :/

Nope, never had the desire - i haven't even read the Buffy comics and tht;s my favourite show

Because as a teen drama it failed to get huge viewership despite the huge promotion that CW gave it. It's male sub demos based on TV ratings is so dreadful. A normal teen drama was already predicted to fail on current CW landscape by some TV ratings experts. This network's audience is not the same anymore as back then when they used to launch slutty white girl teen soaps. Even though show ske female it pales in comparison with TVD/GG during their heydays. Becoming Supernatural could also help it get more viewers from the other CW shows which has fantasy/supernatural elements. The show currently doesn't fit with current CW and has trouble fitting in when paired with the other shows.
