Maybe this happens
Half way through the season, Eric gets into trouble and JACK BAUER rescues him. Jack has been secretly hiding in amsterdam (ladies and weed) and just happens to come across Eric as he is being beat up. Unfortunately Eric suffers fatal wounds but before he dies, passes a note to Jack that reads "Almedia's back". Then Jack stands up, looks at the screen and says, "Dammit! Another day"
