24 Legacy trailer getting low viewership on You Tube

That's pretty concerning, and not a good sign in terms of interest for the new 24. Prison Break is bringing back its original cast, and continuing the original storyline, so that must be what's made the difference.

Have to admit, prison break does look a bit better

The IMDB message boards you either die a good poster,or live long enough to become the troll

Here are updated trailer view counts for some of the new shows this season:

Prison Break: 12 million
This is US 8.8 million (before it was pulled in September)
Lethal Weapon: 5.5 million
Designated Survivor: 3.2 million
The Exorcist: 3.8 million
Lethal Weapon: 5.5 million
Pitch: 2.9 million

24 Legacy's first trailer now has 1.8 million and the new one has only 360,000 despite airing during the World Series.

Those numbers really are bad, especially with the World Series promotion. It's pretty hard to sell this show when Jack Bauer isn't the lead, the other fan favorites aren't in the regular cast, and the novelty of the real time format has worn off.

Yeah, they're really overestimating the appeal of the "real time" format. I think it format actually holds them back. They can't ever show things out of sequence, can't do flashback scenes, and have to often explain situations instead of showing them. The characters can't travel very far during a season. And the day/night shoots are always dictated by what time it is, and not the mood of the scene.

And sadly the producers seem to put this "real time" format ahead of the characters. It's not a great strategy for making a TV show.

Perhaps PB's international following may also contribute to its high interest level.

Here on IMDb it may be interesting to compare these vote counts for 24 & PB:
the "US" counts are nearly equal, while PB has a higher "Non-US" count.

Prison Break also has a very strong social media following. It was the top rated in terms of social media buzz prior to the season. 24 Legacy was very far behind at #10 (and a lot of that buzz is from longtime fans who are not watching, or only watching the Tony episodes).

Fox “Prison Break”: 19,495,934
NBC “This Is Us”: 1,560,911
CBS “MacGyver”: 558,073
ABC “Speechless”: 505,161
Fox “Pitch”: 338,870
Fox “Son of Zorn”: 260,796
Fox “Lethal Weapon”: 252,469
ABC “Designated Survivor”: 240,726
ABC “American Housewife”: 199,160

It just seems that despite all the heavy promotion and hype about the pilot, that the public doesn't seem that interested. The ratings for the pilot will be strong (due to inflated ratings from the Super Bowl) and the next episode will likely have some carryover from those viewers, but by the 4th episode, I think the ratings will be pretty low.

BTW:

For a retrospective comparison, I've tried to find some early-2014 view counts
for the promo trailers of that year's 24 iteration, 24: Live Another Day.

I first revisited old 24 Spoilers articles to obtain those promos' original YouTube URLs
(where they were originally posted on the main US Fox YT channel).. Using those URLs,
I checked the Internet Archive (archive.org) snapshots of those YouTube pages,
to get the view counts from 2014 around the date of the the 24:LAD series premiere.

Due to limited available data, incomplete research, and reliability problems
with this research method, I won't share any numbers here.

But my impression is that those trailers' view counts (up to the LAD premiere)
may (in retrospect) have been noticeably lower than I'd expected them to be.

Anyway, with that in mind, I might not necessarily want to rely too much
on promo-trailer view counts as a predictor of a show's performance.

Time will tell.

Yeah trailer count may not indicate what the ratings will be like. Many shows with large social media followings get low ratings and vice versa.

Who honestly cares how many hits it receives on Youtube? It'll either be good, average or bad.

Why not... you know... let the show air first before destroying it?
