They honestly think people are going to watch this crap?

Really? They use none of the cast that made 24 great and just try and piggy back off the name and think people are too dumb to realize?

What's next? Re-open Cheers with a new owner and bartender?

I honestly think most of these studios stumble onto hits. They don't know what they're doing. They just wanted to make another 24 show and profit from it instead of trying to do a good job. It's the same thing they used to do with comic book movies until Marvel had to do it themselves.

I am going to watch it and what about tony he's a old character and he's returning.

. Trivia note:
A remake of Cheers was aired in 2011-2012 in Spain.

Looks far better than that limp-wristed weenie of a president that Kiefer Sutherland currently plays in that laughable tragicomedy "Designated Survivor" which forsakes all semblance of realism in the interest of political correctness.

Corey Hawkins did an excellent job as young Dr Dre in "Straight Outta Compton" and looks fully capable of carrying this action-packed half-season of 12 episodes. Don't be surprised if this trial-run returns next year for a full season of 24 episodes.

I disagree with the first paragraph. I agree about the second.

I wasn't really interested in this show at all, but I might cave to the first 4 episodes. The nostalgia of 4 eps of 24 back to back like that is kicking in. If the story is compelling enough, I might continue.

Like you said though, they really are just piggy backing off of the brand. It'll be 24: Lite no matter how you look at it.

I wouldn't expect any massive improvements before the fourth episode.
With most new shows I usually reserve judgment until the fifth or sixth ep.

BTW, The Hollywood Reporter's 3-episode review warns
that the show is at times encumbered by "flailing B-plots":

"... It isn't a new 24 thing to constantly force the main
dramatic stakes to compete against half-baked threads
that sometimes coalesce into the greater whole and
mostly don't, but these duds are extra weak ....

"One of the advantages of doing small-batch seasons ...
was supposed to be that narrative fat wouldn't be necessary.
So much for that. ..."

(Was it Hawkins IIRC who said in a promo-interview that
the show has no room for filler?  Ha!  Don't believe it.)

I don't think this should have been made without Jack either but the reviews have been pretty good and Tony is back so I'll be giving it a try.

reply

It will be good to see Tony back, no matter how long (or short) it is.

You may have noticed that we live in a world full of remakes. Yet people go and watch them and then more get made. There's always a new audience to watch shows and movies. I really find it amusing that because Jack isn't in it (yet) it'll obviously suck. Way to go giving something a chance but instead narrow mindedness prevails.

Too true. My 13 year old son was watching tv with me the other night when a promo for Legacy came on. I started complaining about it not having Jack Bauer in it and my son asked me "Who's Jack Bauer?" Parenting fail! 

So yeah, there's a whole crop of potential viewers out there who aren't familiar with Jack Bauer. It's a bitter pill to swallow, I know.

No thank you.
