1. Why would Eric choose to rob the police station than dealing with his junky friend? Isn't it quite obvious which one is easier to deal with?
2. Does he really need a solid 2 million dollars to buy back the flash drive? All he needs to do is just to find him. Call him and tell him 2 million is ready. That should do the trick.
3. Why the female director thought she needs to run a covert operation? The veteran team's covers are already blown, four of them are already dead. There is nothing more to keep a secret. Brief Keith (the current director), let him run the operation and observe him would be a much easier way to find out if he is the leak.

That, there, had to be one of the worst moments in all 24 history. And that's including all seasons... and we're only into the second episode of this one. It doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence.
Brief Keith (the current director), let him run the operation and observe him would be a much easier way to find out if he is the leak.
Possibly the second most illogical moment in all of 24 history. And, again... only 2 episodes in.
Shall we also mention that Eric decides to have his wife seek sanctuary with a bunch of drug dealers? This is to keep her SAFE?
The first two are illogical. The last one actually makes sense. They're not going to look for her in boogie town. It's his brothers crew so he feels that she's somewhat safe.
The issue isn't whether she'd be safe from the assassins... but whether she would be SAFE.
I'm sure his brother would try to protect her, but it's still dumping an attractive woman in a den of vipers. Seems there would have been SOMETHING better.

Family can be easier to trust, but it's not as though bro lives in a vacuum. Even if you trusted your army buddy on the Gaza Strip, would you send someone to live with him to keep her SAFE - there?

Exactly, the decision making does not make any sense: there is a junkie on the run with a flash drive, so let's rob a heavily guarded police station in order to pay him ransom. What??? How can they be that stupid???
I could see the potential of robbing the station for $2 mil only IF we were talking about a heavily organized group with some kind of hidden assets and organization which made robbing the station the easier solution between the two. But a junkie who is going to meet you to collect the cash? Insane.
This is on top of the other problems mentioned; all within the first two episodes.

you are forgetting that Kieth is one of the 3 possible leaks of the information that got everyone and their family killed. Director of the FBI, the CIA and CTU. He is one of 3 possibilities. the op started before the figured out that it was the campaign manager and while Keith was still suspect.
You are correct. Also, he did try his brother, but he did not have the money. This new 24 has been kind of dumb, but at least call it dumb for the correct reasons.
Grimes is not an idiot, he will be able to tell if the money is falsified or contains bundles of $1 bills. Eric made the same choice that Jack made several times throughout 9 seasons, trying to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible, before an attack happens.
the goal is to FIND Grimes. Once he is in front of Eric, Eric will just have to give him a bag... then put his gun on him... Stealing back the flash drive!!!
Totally agree. For all the people stupidly griping about the PC-ness of casting a black lead (the original 24 had a black president years before Obama, it's always been "PC"), it sure doesn't seem very "PC" to make his plans instinctively rely on drug dealers and armed robbery.
