IMDB canceling mess boards

Errr yeah. You're better of finding stuff on reddit now, if you want to discuss movies.

The IMDB forums has been a cesspool for years, with like zero moderation. No wonder they're getting rid of them. This is way too big to moderate without some sort of community representation like on Reddit.

Honestly can't say I'll miss it, but sure, this was the #1 go-to place to discuss movies, now there's nothing except sub reddits.

No one is seriously going to debate movies on Twitter and Facebook the same way they discuss in a forum.

What I don't get is why now? Why remove the message boards after such a heated political election and not during? There is more to this disabling of the boards than what meets the eye, that's for sure. Not sure why moderation is such an issue when the content people spew on the boards is no more harmful than the content usually present within the movie or TV show they are discussing in the first place.

Meanwhile the iPetition is already over 7000 signatures, that's more than enough to generate a good chunk of site revenue via clicks in the boards. So why reject the boards?
