Do they not have discovery in the UK?

In America the defense is given all of the evidence available to the prosecution in order to mount a defense. But in ep 3 in court here it appears as though the defense (and Yvonne) are seeing it all for the first time.

And those who are having issues with continuing, go till the end of ep 3 before making that call.

Fair notice of the evidence against the accused is a requirement in the UK too.

This is just a *beep* drama, not real life.

They do have discovery but it was convenient for dramatisation purposes.

It's that man again!!

As I understand it discovery (or disclosure) is mainly used in civil proceedings, i.e. one person bringing a case against another. This was a criminal case, and evidence (for or against) does not have to be shared in advance, but either side can ask for a halt in the proceedings while they consider what they've just heard about. And this only refers to paperwork/photographs/e-mails, or something that can be physically examined by both sides.
