Unlike most of the posters here, I thought this mini series was interesting and watchable.
However, I find it unbelievable that Yvonne still feels in tune with her former lover even after he breaks their deal by telling his legal team that they were lovers, thereby exposing her as a liar and even jeopardizing her defence.
What is even more awkward is that, when she visits him in prison, he says he did so "in order for people to know"... I suppose he meant in order for people to know he loved her. Strange. But in that case, why bringing up the yard episode?? He could have said they loved each other and had made love without bringing up those intimate details, which nobody else would have guessed... Any thoughts??

but I'm still confused.. Did he actually do what she non chalantly asked him to do (as she wasn't serious) or was she truly serious in her request to have the guy beat up?

Well she asked him to kill the rapist but it is unclear how much she meant it. My take I think she felt he would do it

My take is she said what I can imagine most women who have been assaulted would feel a sense of revenge. SO yeah she spoke her secret desire that she wishes Mark would kill him... but feeling you want revenge is different than definitely planning and conspiring to do so. In her mind her lover was a real spy so if he did rough up the rapist guy, he would get away with it. if she knew he was unstable then I'd be more inclined to think she knew he'd truly act on her wish.

On his part I think this unstable Mark really did love Yvonne and wanted to spare her but when he saw her husband supporting her at the trial..he got jealous and that made him tell his lawyer about their tryst at Apple Tree Yard. So that she would have to let her husband know she was indeed with him.

DNA evidence? Witnesses? (A neighbour saw her sitting in the car and would have been questioned about the murder.)
In reply to other posters - I don't think they actually had a 'deal', or that Yvonne even knew what Mark had done. Yes, I think he was jealous because her husband was still supporting her, especially when he saw Gary signalling to Yvonne about the baby being born. And it was made clear that he was just a weird fantasist when we found out he only knew about CCTV cameras because he was a glorified security guard, not a spy, and had been turned down by MI5.

You can see it very clearly in her reaction to his "reveal" that he did not say anything about what she said in the safe house. He is talking about it like it was a real request for action. She looks dumbstruck and than said:

People can say anything

and when he looks at her back with a puzzled look, she adds:

You really can't tell the difference, can you?

The difference between imagination and reality. Its the first time it dawns on her that he really is mentally sick.

Yes, I agree with you.

But in that prison scene, after her final words to him, I got the impression that she couldn't help loving him anyway.
