Necessary for Sequel?

Anybody think seeing the first is unnecessary for getting the second?

I just started it and it feels like it'll just make the second less interesting.

Thoughts?

Actually, yes. The first one should be watched before the second. There are so many little jokes you only get after watching the first one.
However. You would still be able to understand the second one as a stand alone since everything important is explained.

After watching the first movie, I wondered the same thing. There was nowhere for the plot to go, and I just a felt a sequel would be a rehash of the first one.

However, on seeing the sequel, I did enjoy it. It was, of course, a variation of the first. But there was enough new plot elements to make it a different movie. And Jessica Rothe is charismatic enough that it kept the film entertaining for the running time.
