People like bad movies...
and this is a real stinker. It should make lots of money.
shareTranslation: "People like movies I don't."
And that comes as a surprise to you?
Oh please. This movie brings nothing new to the horror genre. You probably liked Friend Request too. Hollywood will continue to make terrible movies as long as people go to see them.
shareSo your criteria for a 'good movie' is 'bringing something new to the horror genre'?
My criteria is being entertained. And if we're doing 'you probably', you probably sit in the movie theater with a stick up your ass and critiquing the movie for your fellow viewers. Fuck your pretentious snobbery.
Using the word pretentious is so typical of people who can't think of anything to say. You feel the need to use words that you don't completely understand just because you've heard others use it. Your criteria is lacking, because this movie is barely entertaining. These days it doesn't take much to entertain seeing that you all wait impatiently for the next boring text that somehow makes you feel important. Next time don't try to use your entire vocabulary of curse words and things you've heard others say before in a few sentences.
shareYeah, I can't stand people who insist on saying something when they can't actually think of anything to say.
I like people who know how to give a solid criticism of a movie. I mean, all you have to say is that it's a stinker and adds nothing new to the genre. That's some in-depth crit that really backs itself up with reasons and examples. If you say that, I'm sure you've actually thought about the movie and aren't just trolling so you can project flaws on people. Otherwise, you just have a big ol' cursey-sweary stick up your ass.
10/10 would recommend modica.
This movie doesn't deserve in-depth criticism. It's a teen popcorn flick. It's not a Kubrick or Kieslowski film.
shareIt's been proven that people who are insecure feel the need to insist that their opinions and tastes are the only valid opinions and tastes, and anyone disagreeing with them are intellectually inferior.
Sad way to go through life.
That's not it at all, but you can continue to like all the bad movies you want. But, please keep talking, I only yawn when I'm super fascinated.
shareThanks for giving me permission. And I give you permission to be a pompous strutting ass all you want.
shareWe'll get along fine once you realize that I'm God.
shareIn your pathetic, delusional mind.
shareYou would be much more likable if it wasn't for that hole in your mouth that noise comes out of.
shareThis movie is actually pretty good. It is fun, entertaining and has a smart screenplay. I don't see how it could be classified as bad or a stinker.

Exactly this. it's a fun movie, not all movies have to be super deep or original.
I saw it third time (turns out just like the movie deja vu..)..Oh and there IS a reference near the end after all the 11 days including Day 1 at the start (YES, I counted 'em lol), when Carter tells Tree that she needs to see "Groundhog Day"...both the same age but she hasn't seen it...obviously Carter had despite his being the same age..:)
share"when Carter tells Tree that she needs to see "Groundhog Day"...both the same age but she hasn't seen it...obviously Carter had despite his being the same age..:) "
I think Carter's character was supposed to have been really into movies, particularly older ones (I'm basing this theory solely on his having a "They Live" poster in his dorm room lol).
one of my favorite movies of all times is "12 angry men". which is from 1957, i was born in 1972. just sayin. ;)
shareGreat movie! Born in 74 myself with Psycho, Rosemary's Baby, and the original King Kong being among my favorites. But for college kids today, a movie released in 1988 probably seems "older" haha
sharesad, but true. on the other hand, this is the generation that eats and vapes "tide pods", soooooooo.... ;)
shareThis is very true!
When I was 6 or 7 years old I remember how excited I was for the yearly showing of The Wizard of Oz. That was a special night where I was allowed to stay up a little later than usual. Now I'm not sure most 6 or 7 year olds would have the patience to make it through the black and white portion of that movie.....too many bright colored choices available.
How old were you the first time you saw Twelve Angry Men?
good question. i think about 12 years old. then again when i was in my 30s and ever since then i watch it every couple of years.
shareI was probably about 13 when I saw Psycho and was lucky enough not to know the ending....the moment when it all came together is still one of my favorite movie watching experiences.
I haven't seen 12 Angry Men in years but I'm going to have to watch it again soon. I enjoy movies that make the most out of very little and having a story be so compelling while never really leaving that single room is something few movies have been able to pull off.

i saw it once a a child, so i never had the chance to grasp it's full brilliance. i should rewatch it one day for sure.

now that you say it, i recognize that it is one of the first "low budget confined space films" that was a major success. trust me, it never gets old to rewatch it and since "confined space" films became such a overused formula, this should be a mandatory watch for modern writers before even starting to use said concept.
It's true, in the 60 years since this film was released I don't know of another "confined space" film that has worked this well. There have been some good ones, but I think this probably still tops them.
shareagreed. in level of deepness, social commentary and overall cinematography, not to speak of script wirting i could not name one that comes close.
shareAlso, what did you think of Happy Death Day? Thought I'd ask since that is the board we're on...
shareloved it. actually watched it 4 times by now. gets better each and every time. i just recently watched "before i fall" as well, whose concept is almost identical. i gave the latter a fair chance and it kinda works until the third act, where it unfortunately falls apart completely.
shareSame here.....As a 43 year old man I was actually embarrassed at how much I enjoyed this movie. I think what surprised me the most is how much I ended up liking the main character. At the beginning of the movie I figured she'd go through her character arc but I would still probably find her largely unlikable. Instead I found myself rooting for her in a way in which I rarely do for movie characters. I figured the "twist" out pretty early but I liked this character's journey so much that it really didn't take away from my enjoyment of this film at all.
One other thing I appreciate about it is that it's one of the few horror films that has the guts to actually have a happy ending without one final scare to leave it open for a sequel.
same. here. 45 years. you gotta admit though (spoiler), her new bf messing with her at the end was just as clever as it was funny.

so true. i also like how (spoiler) the movie messes with you, by what the bf did and then goes a different route. loved it.
Yes the ending was clever, just really liked this entire film!!
sharetotally agreed.
kinda unrelated, since those are different kind of time loop films, but have you see time crimes, chronicles and/or triangle?
I have not seen any of those....recommend or not?
shareab-so-lutely. triangle is one of the best films in existence. everybody i have shown or recommended it to was blown away. time crimes and chronicles are quite brilliant themselves, but up to a point a matter of taste. triangle though is above criticism. the director needed years to get the logic air tight and it almost ruined his marriage.
totally off topic, but you might be interested: check out "13 beloved". barely anybody outside of thailand knows it, but it is insane... insanely great, but also insane on so many other levels.
I'll start with Triangle and if it's as good as you say I'll check out the others as well :)
sharethank you. :D
prepare to be amazed. ^^
You let us know how it is Markdown. After following the link below to the movie, I'm gonna skip it, I think.

That's a TV show...I thought this was what was being referred to: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1187064/?ref_=fn_tt_tt_1
sharewow, how eloquent. me not like. everybody stoopid, uggaboogabooga.
shareIt wasn't worth a in depth critical review. When you have seen as many movies as I have, please comment as much as you'd like, otherwise; be quiet. I will chew the carpet, floor and the chair you are sitting in with the amount of knowledge I have about movies; newer and older, indie and blockbuster, art films an popcorn flicks. Uggaboogabooga to you to.
