Trump Should Watch This

It shows how a president gets legislation passed by first swaying the public and then by getting support of the politicians in both Houses who are influenced by their constituencies. He should be doing his "art of the deal".

Trump thought he'd be like a company boss. But in politics that's called dictator. The Founding Fathers protected the country against that with checks and balances.

I heard him say in an interview getting bills go through legislation is archaic slow. This is isn't a business deal. Getting people to agree on one thing takes time. You'd think someone of his stature would know this.

reply

He's not getting them passed because most are bad bills with little or no support and/or illegal/unconstitutional.

Someone had said it would be hard for him to make the transition because he is used to being a boss and doesn't understand compromise and a win-win situation in which he and the other side can get something positive. I don't like how he was trying to pass Trumpcare and then when it failed, he said it was a bad deal anyway. He wanted to pass something bad just in order to win instead of doing the work make Trumpcare a good healthcare solution.

Whatever he's proposing now has little support b/c I think it doesn't cover pre-existing conditions. So many have a pre-existing condition. Just look at the increase of people will diabetes.

I was stunned to learn that Kal Penn (Press Secretary Seth Wright) was once an active member of the Obama administration. I really like how he delivers his lines as Press Secretary. Even though I know that he's just acting here, it is my belief that he'd be great in such a role in real life!

He's also the show's political consultant. I just read more about him on wikipedia, heard his DNC speech and watched a few interviews. He's very politically active, intelligent and well-spoken.

I agree!

Speaking of which, I also recently saw a clip of Kal Penn on Jimmy Kimmel's show where he mentioned that most of the cast and crew rely on him for advice or suggestions with the show. He also went on to add that the set is actually set up a little differently than the actual White House too (a lot of the rooms are out of order)....which actually had Kal getting lost at times while on set. LOL!

Well he did do it with the his American Health Care Act where he got the needed votes to go forward. Lot of the republicans were opposed to it until it was slightly adjusted.

i get the impression that Trump and Republican Congress wanted to pass anything (some didn't read the bill) just to have a "win" since the Senate is coming up with their own bill instead of signing Congress' bill. Trump and Congress photo op reminds me of Bush declaring victory in Iraq - very premature.
