When I watched season 3 the first time, I was very disappointed that the girl group I've grown to love was completely ignored. But after watching all three seasons a few times, it makes perfect sense.
In fact this is the essence of what Skam is. As you know, every season centers around a different character and we see and feel the same as they do, quite literally.
Some examples:
In season 1, we are introduced to Noora through the eyes of Eva, and at this point, all we know about Noora is, that she is this mysterious cool and stylish chick, who has lived in Madrid, has a lot of opinions and isn't afraid to stand up for herself or her friends. We don't learn much about her, because this is how Eva sees her and hence how we as viewers see her.
However, this all changes when "we" are Noora in season 2. We learn a whole lot more about her and see a very vulnerable and a slightly unsecure girl (at least when it comes to boys).
In season 2 we also learn that Vilde is struggling with an eating disorder, and because Noora herself has suffered from an eating disorder at some point, she is the only one who actually notices and confronts Vilde about it. Vilde might've struggled with this for some time, but we don't see this in season 1, because Eva probably doesn't see this. None of the other girls appear to notice in season 2 either, only Noora, because we know she has struggled as well.
In season 2 we also learn that Sana actually does have a soft side, as her and Noora share a tender moment talking about the struggle to deal with William and his actions. This is perhaps the first time we see Sana "break character".
Same goes for season 3. We are seeing everything from Isak's perspective, and this means that the girl group is practically nonexistent, because we know that Isak isn't a part of this group and he isn't as close with them as Eva or Noora, so through the eyes of Isak, the girl group is not interesting. Instead we are introduced to another group, as you know.
When Isak is battling with his feelings for Even, Noora is portrayed as a bit annoying, constantly talking about her break up with William, and as Isak himself is struggling, he's fed up with this. Hence making it seem like we don't care about Noora and William at all because Isak doesn't care as much.
I personally think that this is a very clever way to write a show and it adds a unique experience overall. We get a few hints every season about some of the characters, but we have no way of knowing the whole story before we experience them first hand as the character. Like when it was hinted through season 1 and 2 that Isak might be gay, but this, again, is seen from another perspective, and we don't know the full story until it's told through Isak. So who knows what will be brought to the show next? We'll see!
