I JUST heard about this show on youtube. I think when you have, what I like to call 'hidden' shows like this, the core groups that likes and watches it will rate it high. Either 9 or 10 stars. And indeed I just checked the ratings and the lowest I could find was 8 stars.
Shows that are more widely known/on national television/popular/etc....have lower ratings since more people know about it to even rate it. Like when they roll out a new show, they advertise it. So all kinds of people try it out, and you will have people that hate it of course.
Skam is a foreign tv show, that if you don't speak Norwegian, you will need subtitles. Hard to find it etc...it's only on a TV station in Norway. So you'd be hard pressed to go to the trouble of watching it. Much less taking that time to rate it...
So it's probably on a station that is like USA's CW. You know a channel for younger audiences. So the people that like it are the people that watch it, and then also rate it. I think that is why they are so bold as to have such a prominent gay couple in the show. Since the show is so hidden I doubt it will get so much hate for it. They seem like main characters too according to you tube.
In shows in the USA, since these shows are the most widely known and popular, you barely get any gay couples. They are sides at best. Anyways.....not saying the show is bad or good, I just heard about it. Yeah I mean ratings are subjective. There will always be the 1 and 10 star reviews. But the general rule is if you have over a 5 stars out of ten then you are ok. Under five then people hate you. This near perfect rating is suspicious I'll give you that, since it's hard to get. Imdb needs to be taken as a curve. I think if this was a more widely known show it would be rated 7 stars if you adjust for the people that hate it or something.
But yeah I had no idea it was rated so high, looks like a fun show.
