I know there are a lot of questions and contradictory stories about what happened. But this is the one thing that just doesn't make sense to me and never saw an explanation. How did he get out of car yet she was trapped inside?
He would have had to get out through a door or window. But she was sealed in car with no escape.
Know he says he does not remember how he got out but what is the logical explanation for how it was possible.

The reason you Republicans are not fit to live in America is exactly this, how you will do or put up with anything. You really need to read up more on this. I know the movie took liberty with the situation, but the facts of the incident paint Ted in a really bad light.

That is what people say, so what. What says more is that they did not prosecute. What did the family of the girl say or want. I don't care for your condescending know it all tone, no one knows it all and by this time most of what you hear is always brought up, and so was this movie done by people who wanted to smear Kennedy. The guy is dead.
I think you have very little empathy for what happened. A full day of activity, driving back over a tough road, under the influence, and then getting in an accident. They tell the story like it was purposeful. Probably cause means nothing ... it merely means the DA could think of the worst case scenario and then try to prove it. They did not file charges because it was all made up.

I think we need to eliminate empathy down to zero so we can analyze the situation rationally without feeling like we do for all court cases instead of giving sympathy to people because we like them or because they are rich. Drunk driving alone is manslaughter.
In the trivia section of IMDb, it is stated that it was never explained how Edward got out of the car, nor did Edward ever explain what happened. Regardless, he should have been charged with criminal negligence for leaving the scene of an accident and not reporting it. It's possible that young woman could have lived if he had immediately alerted the authorities, we don't know how long she survived in the car before drowning. He acted like a coward. Driving under the influence resulting in a fatal accident is also a crime, but it was unprovable since he didn't report the accident the night of the accident. I hope he lived with the guilt every day of his life, like this young woman's family had to live with the grief of her unexplained death every day of their lives. This is not about politics, I am a Democrat not a republican, it is about morality and human decency. He should have gone to jail.
