Why have none of the victims been able to tear the plastic bags when they are being smothered. Their hands are free and they are grabbing at their necks but you'd think someone would poke a hole as they try to get free...

I just watched the first episode, alix2468ks - their hands were bound by cable ties.

Marcella did not have her hands caught and she too clawed at the edges or throat area.
