children?

Where are they while their dad buggers off and their mother follows him around?
Yet she had previously given up her ' career' to raise these children!!
Such an odd programme...
Didn't really make much sense at all.

The mystery of the missing children!

It's that man again!!

The husband mentioned that they were at school. I suppose it is boarding school of some kind.

I think they domention boarding school at one point

I think the point wasn't really "where are they" but "why are they away" when she supposedly gave up her career to raise them. It would be like quitting your job to take care of your farm, but then moving to a condo right after.

I wondered the exact same thing. It's not like there aren't good day schools in London, and Marcella is not exactly the kind of person who likes to sit around all day--especially when she's obviously very good at her job as a detective. I think it was just convenient for the writers to have the kids in boarding school so they didn't have to write more than a few scenes about them and could concentrate on the story.

The kids are at boarding school. Marcella made a comment about Jason thinking it was a good idea and her feeling they were a little young. And Marcella did have a depression that seemingly was pretty bad so I'm sure that was a factor as well...

My thought though was that the kids being away suited Jason as he wanted to ease the kids out of the house so he could ease himself right out of the marriage. If you look at his behavior it makes sense-he broke up with Marcella in a restaurant because he didn't want a scene. Then he pushed off telling the kids presumably because he wasn't comfortable. I think missing the talent show was the same thing. It's not just that he forgot, Marcella did to, its that he didn't even seem bothered.

I didn't particularly like Marcella (and I don't think you're supposed to like her either) but by the end of the series I felt like Jason was an absolute nightmare. He's one of those guys who seems nice but ends up being something else.

She left to be a full time mom, but her youngest, Juliet, died. After that she went into depression. Eventually, her husband started having an affair and at some point he felt it was better (probably for him so he could carry on his affair more easily) for the kids to go away to boarding school.

From comments the bratty daughter makes, it seems Marcella was not in a very fit state to parent a lot of the time. So the prince she married screws around and ships off the kids rather than see to it that his wife and mother of his children gets proper mental health care.

Is she likable? Eh, maybe not, but she is pitiable.
