Marcella was full of plot holes, but the thing that really annoyed me in the last episode was how on earth was she still on the case. Surely any evidence that she had touched or heard would be thrown out of court by any Judge who new her connection to Grace through her ex husband...
What happened with the blonde internet girl, did she sleep with the killer? And the guy who accidentally hung himself - what was that all about...
DCI Porter seems to have a lot of confidence in Marcella's abilities. They worked together before and she must have saw how 'out of the box' she works and saw the results. But yeah, I agree with you. In real life it just wouldn't happen because the 'culprit' would get away scot-free which would be throwing an expensive investigation down the drain.
I think they deliberately didn't tie up all the loose ends, so that the 'mystery' will continue next season. In other words..... all's not what it seems.
The blonde internet girl's death could be one of those loose ends.
I'm also don't believe it is Grace who put a plastic bag over Henry, but somebody else trying to 'help' her. Tim probably, and maybe he's the one who killed the blonde internet girl for that very same reason, to help or protect Marcella, who he seems to be obsessed with. Unless Marcella just unconciously copies the murder method of whichever current investigation she is investigating...
I mean, for sure they are leaving things open for Season Two, if there ever is one. It would be interesting to see her remembering what she did during her blackouts, for instance. I thought the season would end like that, but obviously they are leaving it for 'another time'.
Henry was pretty sure that it was Marcella who tied the plastic bag around his neck. However, he might have been knocked out and Tim did it. Does Tim know that Marcella blacks out?

And yes, obviously she had slept with him. How else would she have gotten all the trophies? That was the purpose of showing her meeting up with the woman, stealing from her while she was sleeping, then going to the pawn shop. To establish her behavior. So when she goes back to the pawn shop with new stuff you know she has robbed someone else she met for sex.
Henry threatened her online, tracked her down and killed her.
