Why would she be allowed to stay after she almost killed the suspect?

How many times was she told she couldn't investigate or that she couldn't be in the station? Or that she had to go home? She ignored her superiors orders throughout the whole series and then almost killed the suspect and was allowed to do the final interrigation? Why woudn't the suspect lawyer up and keep his mouth shut?

It is TV drama and how the heck did she walk in off the street and become an active detective on a case. If retired the only thing might be to advise on a personally relevant case. This was a case in point.

Yep, she wouldn't have been able to pull this *beep* on Law & Order (the US version)...LOL! She would have been put on administrative leave pending an Internal Affairs investigation...pronto!

I guess we can assume that her colleagues cut her some slack over the May/Juliette thing and realized she'd slipped a cog. I think she probably bought some goodwill with cracking down Cullen and getting a confession.

She was an expert on the original killings, so they were glad to have her back to help with the new ones.
