What do we all think then? Marcella didn't kill her, someone else did after she left.
The only problems with that theory are:
1. how would she have a memory trigger causing her to walk into some random woodland area where Grace's body had been dumped?
2. Why was she bloody and beaten when she came out of her blackout

Equally, surely there would have been other clues to lead her to think she had something to harm Grace, especially in her car...

Perhaps she did kill her, & is using the serial killer as to cover her tracks.
She knows the case & the killers methods & style. Her problem is the cctv footage.

They could have both been kidnapped by the killer and she fought and escaped after almost being killed and buried at the same place.

reply

Great theory i didn't think of that. Have her blackouts been explained?

reply

Yeah, didn't think of the possibility of her being kidnapped too. Good point.

I always think that mysterious amnesia type issues are such a cop out when it comes to these things. They are unrealistic (in my, admittedly, very limited knowledge) but make for so many plot twists that I feel a bit short changed.

Now that I have seen the final, I'm kinda upset I wasted my time watching it, since they didn't explain why she moved the body, plus like 20 other things. Such lazy writers.

I don't know if people know this, but when you write a thriller, you are supposed to write it backwards so that things flow and make sense. Stephen King and John Irving both do this (great writers). Someone should have taught the writers of Marcella that.

I couldn't agree more. I would have expected someone during the production process to say "hang on a sec, what about this, what about that?". There seemed to be a few elephants in the room, the major one being the lack of explanation as to what actually happened at the Grace Gibson residence.
I'm surprised sometimes how some series ever see the light of day, because this one looked like an unfinished project.

yep. think alike,..too many loose ends,..how she got away from the cab drivers brother? why he didnt kill her? all the body moving business? ...

I may help on your thoughts with my thesis, Black outs occur as explained by her therapist from extreme stress etc. What is triggering though memory ,try remembering instances, is subconscious.

So she gets into Gibson's house extremely mad on her thoughts. All the time She was there inside the house.

Same time real murder(Henry) appears kills his sister but Marcella is present, by accident, so Henry
just beats her (so the blood on her).In that aspect he is now forced to change his plan ,framing other for her sister's killing. Marcella was to be presented as a psycho killer since her motivation to kill was strong- separation.THIS fight cause her to black out.

BUT ,against Henry's plan, when she wakes up ,remembering nothing, but seeing blood and a dead body next to her, She moves it,thinking is dead by her actions.

After burying, it returns to her house and She blacks out again to avoid guilt. (This is how black outs along with subconscious work,if they experience these incidents, in all humans).Otherwise she would already knew that Henry was the killer.

Her Subconscious, in final, takes control and leads her literally into the buried scene. This the reason she insists on chasing Henry at some point. She remembers something but can't bring up into her memory.
To me is a superb, no gap ,psychological scenario tv series.

Henry would not have left her alive; no one would believe his word against that of a cop. She can't remember what happens during her blackouts, at least not much, and not right away, so she probably isn't behaving rationally during them. I think we have to assume she accosted Grace, but left during a blackout and returned during the same blackout to find her dead. She assummed she herself was the killer, so she hid the body -- all during the blackout. Later, she has a little memory of burying the body, so she goes looking for it. When she finds it, she is convinced she herself is the killer, until the missing jewelry turns up on the friend/roommate of the dead thief who had taken it from the killer.

Well you have a point, but Henry during his confession he says to Marcella "Its all about crossing that line, well You know....", implying something they Both know, then camera shows Marcella feeling discomfort.Along comes a scene showing her with Henry's voice in her mind "you are so s....up" and trailing scenes on her memory( Matthew tied up).Marcella had a motive Henry didnt so there is no word vs cop statement strong.

Maybe he figured out she was the one who moved Grace's body.
