Marcella is a terrible mother SPOILERS

Marcella is such a terrible mother. Sent kids to boarding school even she didn't have a job, says "it was his idea". Can't connect with kids, husband left her becuse she has anger issues, smashing his car windows in freaking out throwing him down the stairs, she was the abusive one. Then getting called back to work and being an *beep* to everyone she worked with. She is hard to feel sorry for. I almost coudn't wait for her to get caught being a murderer but they ruined that plot. :)

You lost a kid recently? Have a bit of sympathy. You have no idea what she was like prior to that and have you changed your opinion now in any way. And lets not forget the scum bag husband who while having left felt okay about banging her for his own satisfaction as he had been a day without emptying his ball bags. [To our knowledge].

Her husband didn't leave her because of her anger issues, he left her because he wanted to be with the woman he had been cheating with for 3 yrs. And anger wasn't the problem, their toddler daughter died. She apparently started drinking instead of grieving. She drank, her husband decided to fvck someone else. And given that, rather than coming to her and saying, hey we got problems, he took her to dinner and said, "I'm leaving" out of the blue. Sounds like she had a right to be a little angry.

As for abusive, her husband was fvcking someone else for 3 yrs, moved out to be with his sidepiece, though he didn't mind coming over to fvck her once in a while, then had the gall to tell her she shouldn't be seeing someone else.

I don't trust people who don't like pets and I don't trust people who pets don't like.

Seriously? Do you have kids?

She left work to be a full time mom and then her youngest died. She went into a terrible depression. Rather than get her proper mental health care and take care of her, her husband has an affair. Then it's HIS idea to send the other 2 kids off to boarding school. Probably to make it easier to screw around on his wife who was falling apart. I'm sure removing the only reason she had to try and stay grounded didn't help her mental state.

By the comments that horrible daughter makes, the father has done a lovely job of making the mom out to be a villain responsible for everything that is bad or wrong in their lives, when he is the jerk who gave up 3 years ago and cared more for getting laid than taking proper care of his wife and the mother of his children.

Jason is a master manipulator. He is arrogant enough to walk in to "our" house even after his 3 year affair is revealed. He felt alone and neglected when their child died and instead of doing the hard work his marriage required after such a trauma, he took an easier road and just found another mate. He sent those kids away --and now Marcella wants them back. Good for her! Jason's got nerve taking the moral high ground with Marcella about her friendship with her colleague, Tim, and then confronting Tim in a threatening manner. Ugh, can you tell I can't stand the guy?

Had you already watched the whole series before commenting?

I thought it was pretty clear that she had a good relationship with her son, but the daughter was a bit of a snot and was acting out. I was glad when Marcella finally told her that Daddy wasn't Mr. Perfect. (I'm of a different generation, but if I'd talked to my mother like that...I probably would have gotten my face slapped.)

On a side note, I've lived in the UK and parenting is viewed a bit differently there...not the "helicopter parents" in the US, and it's not unusual for kids to go away to school.

Yes, Marcella clearly had anger issues. She clearly was a troubled character (as is the trope with most detectives in pop culture). But Jason became a royal douche.

Actually I thought it would turn out the daughter was covering for her brother who was actually the one smoking "weed".

Course I also thought it would end with Marcella being the killer.

Tim should have arrested Jason for assaulting an officer. Of course he should also turn in Marcella for interfering in a police investigation by moving a body.

If there's a sequel, Jason should be dead but probably won't be.

Sending your kids off to a boarding school to be raised by strangers isn't parenting, its abandonment.

Well I don't think she's a terrible mom. But I do think her relationship with her family could use some improvement. I hope we see that in season 2. The kids felt their dad could do no wrong. Her daughter was a bit disrespectful to her and blamed her for everything. Which can happen with children sometimes, when parents are going through issues.

Marcella's anger issues are the real issue here. Losing a child or not her anger issues and selfishness at times are a problem. She isn't really working to fix this. She went to the therapist when she thought she killed Grace. But other than that, she has yet to deal with her anger. It's sad they lost a child. Even Jason stated they lost them. To a degree, I believe him. I hope season 2 we see more healing here.

Every major character in this show is an ass... Both parents are terrible. Its like the Breaking Bad of british cop shows, everyone's despicable!
