Another plothole? (Spoilers)

Hey everyone,

Just finished watching the series and have that bittersweet aftertaste, particularly with the many plotholes. I concur completely with the big issue of what happened in Grace's house, it just doesn't fit. The one that I wanted to point out hasn't, I think, been discussed: Why was the cab driver killed? Why would Henry confess to his death? How did that death affected him at all? How did he trace him? In fact, it would make way more sense if Marcella had actually killed him... and of course we never were told what happened to his brother. I assume questions for season 2?

reply

The cab driver witnessed a woman (Marcella) carrying the body away. This would conflict with Henry's version of framing Matthew for Grace's murder.

Of course, the cabbie he killed didn't even witness it (the brother did).

Well, as far as we know, Henry never found out it was Marcella who moved the body - wasn't the asking what gave him away? Further, how did he find out about the taxi driver? Why kill him after he spoke to the police?

reply

I don't remember and not going back to re-watch. Maybe he just knew the taxi driver saw something (since he was speaking with the police) and he knew the body had been moved, but maybe not by whom. So just killed him to cover his bases.

Even assuming that's true, which is believable, how would Henry know about the cab driver? He had to trick Jason in to taking him to Marcella for information. If Henry had a mole, he wouldn't have needed to got to Marcella.

Maybe he didn't kill the cab driver but confessed anyway. There was a scene where Henry is walking away from the tied- up Matthew and he says, " I always wanted to be good at something." (or something to that effect.) Maybe he confessed so as not to ruin his record. To keep people thinking he was just that good. Kill 8 (?) people and no one had a clue.

If we believe Henry killed the cab driver, why shoot him. His MO was the plastic bag, except for the little girl. And how did he find out about the cab driver to begin with?

reply

I've wondered if the cabbie being killed was a red herring. Cab drivers get robbed and killed sometimes. The MO doesn't match and there's no plausible way to make Henry aware of him. They never mention if he had been robbed or not.

reply

His brother said something about ruining the plan by talking to cops. So I figured whoever the brother was always talking to on the phone killed him.

reply

Not a plothole per se, but weren't the cops dusting the bags. Didn't they notice Marcella's all over Grace's? She wipes her hand down it.
