I liked the movie, but why end it there?

This isn't really a spoiler, but read it after you see the movie if you're worried.

Some movies don't end—they just stop. That's what the end of this movie felt like to me. There was an "almost" resolution to one of the stories, but it was more like capturing a bishop in chess, rather than a check mate. Nothing about the dispute was settled by her action. There would have been more to the story.

I'm not saying that movies that just stop are bad in and of themselves. Sometimes it's nice to just go on a ride with the characters and the settings and forget about the plot. That's how I feel about this movie for the most part, but the story was a big part of the movie, and I thought a conclusion would have been better than what was presented.

I believe it was just a brave act that showed us one can stand up for and should not give up on their beliefs. It kinda summed up the main character and it tells us there's more to the story than simply what's seen. The film itself is not about a resolution but it's subtle message relies in the fight and resilience of someone who fights daily to keep her space, freedom, habits and rights alive. After all, they're hers and no one else's. That's why it alludes perfectly to the political scenario in Brazil and the unfortunate process the film itself went through after the Cannes protest.
