Slow burner or intense from beginning to end?
Thinking about watching this with someone, but that someone doesn't like slow burners that much.

shareI'm watching it now on Netflix. It's not a slow burner at all.
shareIt's kind of a slow burner, albeit a somewhat unconventional one. Something is always happening. Something is always trying to work the emotions of the viewer. Not a lot of time is spent on the mundane, as the first 3rd of the movie focuses on the investigation, the 2nd is based around the counter-attack and the 3rd is based around the last stand.
It is long though, so maybe that's why it might seem a little slow.

I wasn't sure at first as, for me, it was almost comedic during the first third of the film. But I would say it's a slow burner and it gets darker and more twisted as it goes on and is worth the watching! :)
shareI agree. It starts off as a rye cop investigation but evolves into a serious horror by the end. I was a bit surprised, but going for the ride, enjoyed it, even if I didn’t fully understand it (it seems contradictory at first). But after reading some interpretations, more impressed looking back.
shareI loved how it started and how it ended... one of the few films that left me rattled and a bit perturbed when the credits finally rolled.
I was actively unsure whether the cop should listen to the lady or the shaman, and wasn't sure which one was telling him the truth.
I don't even know who I would have listened to had I found myself in that very same scenario given the limited amount of information available.
Absolutely a slow burner. I love Korean films, but I had to take a break from this one early on. When I went back to it, I watched it through. And it gets much better.
