plot hole ep 7 spoilers

Regarding the blue van.

When they leave the mall (spoiler removed) after the shootout and are chased, we learn that it was a bait and switch where the blue van only had the driver when it crashes, and the Syrians who have abducted the girl at the mall are in a different vehicle. But, when Daniel and Hector go to the impound lot, they see where the girl scratches the location of where she is being held in the van with her ring, yet, she is never in that van. She left the mall in another vehicle which then got them safely to the location where the video broadcasts were being made.
Just sayin. Please point out if I am wrong on this

yeah - I was wondering about that too. There was just one person in that van who got killed?!

reply

I noticed that, as well.

Am entertaining any explanation right now that covers the scratched info.

It made me wonder if somebody else other than the girl scratched it in there, so if the van were recovered, it would lead them to her, the evil Frau and her half-baked co-conspirators?

Some "inside man" in the Frau's network?

Other than that, it's hard to imagine how it got there, without Clare ever being in the van.

I need to find time to watch that episode again, especially with subtitles soas not to miss any words. Cannot recall off hand exactly what evidence the captured van had other than the scratched letters.

They all left the mall together in the blue van. In the time when the Deputy Chief who was chasing them, lost the van, they obviously got out of the van and into another vehicle. Not that hard to figure out.

Given that Kirsch and other agents were guarding the entrance where Clare and her captors would have likely emerged to get into the van, I'm confused about how they got past them.

Did the terrorists perhaps bring 2 identical blue vans to the meet? Was the van in the impound the same one that Kirsch was chasing?

I thought about Clare & her captors changing to a switch car when Kirsch lost sight of them, but it appeared to be just for a few seconds.

If you are going to set up a bait and switch, you have the blue van with people pull into a garage just after it passes the identical switch van, which now takes off as a way to draw the pursuers in the wrong direction.

You don't have the full van stop, everybody disembark, and then the empty van takes off. Not on a show that I'd write! ;-)

IIRC, Kirsh was in the parking garage and saw the entourage disembark into the mall. During the shootout we see him briefly in the mall. He then chases the blue van with plates BWA, and is later spotted chasing a van with BWA before losing it. When he follows the van that was coming at him from the other direction, it too has BWA plates, and it is the van which crashes. So, the only explanation is that Clare was in the BWA van, in the few seconds that Kirsch loses sight they all get out, and the same van continues. If Clare was in that van, she would have had to scratch the message pointing out a place she had never been to with a ring, all while they were being pursued.

To me, a key element was missing from that whole chase scene, perhaps cut for time, left on the floor?

And why do the Top Gear people make fun of American vehicles when that Dodge minivan full of people was clearly a match for the Beemer. =8^O

Wife pointed this out to me. He did loose them for a few minutes. Just enough time to bail out and that then explains why it doubled back. It was captured on purpose. Maybe not killed the guy on purpose, but came back to be chased so everyone else could get away.

It works I think.
