Imdb 8.2/10?
Must be some error or something cause the show isn't even out yet nor is there any rating on the Imdb page.

shareNo way this is 8.2. I haven't seen person yet that is excited for this show.
shareNot being excited for something, or 'believing' that something will be bad doesnt make it bad. Thinking a thing doesnt make it so.
shareAll eleven threads on the front page are negative, thats not a good sign for a new ST series.
shareBased on trailers, not the finished product. Perhaps I was unclear, Im not saying it wont be bad. Or that it will be good. Im saying that 'thinking" it will be bad wont have any effect of whether not it is bad. Everyone thought ben affleck would suck as batman. Turns out not so much.
shareYou make a good point but one would think us Trekkers would be excited for a new show. I hope its good but I will not be paying their stupid service fee just to watch one TV show.
shareAh and there's the magic sentence. It's where the show is that has people's backs up. Sure, they may not like the look of the show, but that cbs access stuff has made people snakey from the start.
I mean I know it's not what you might want, but, and hear me out, I think being on the internet might be a good thing. It takes the shackles off the show. Think about the quality of shows from Netflix or Amazon. Being free of normal tv codes of practice has made for some top notch tv. Also consider that in the 90s when star Trek was at its peak its was in syndication not a specific channel. It didn't have to rely on the silly nature of today's tv. Enterprise suffered greatly from being on upn. So maybe being on an inter service might allow for Star Trek to succeed again.
I'm not saying it will be, it honestly looks like they've gone they new Trek route of pew pew and nothing else. I guess we will see. I think it would have been better for them to do what Netflix does and put all the episodes up at once. But that would negate the point of dragging it out to get access subscriptions. Well, in the us anyway. Everyone else it actually will be on Netflix. Lol.
I'm thinking it will be bad.
Let's test that hypothesis of yours out when it is released FordFairlane.
I'd like to be wrong after all.
If it is bad, it wont be because you think it will be.
shareAnd you know this...how?
sharemagic.
shareI use a similar, but slightly different technique, to arrive at my conclusions too.
One us of is wrong - which one though will require the show to air first.
:)
You may think that. But I'll still be right. Even if it's the worst thing since Star Trek 5, it still won't be because you thought it ;)
shareYou can't know that you are right though.
My thinking it might very well be the thing that makes it so.
Perhaps I'll think it is good just to show you that you don't get to claim either...
...once you settle on what you want to be right about ;)
either way ill still be right. Remember my statement is that your thinking has no baring on the quality of the show. Which isn't dependent on a good or bad outcome.
But I tell you what, if you can think that the episode of columbo I'm watchign right now is good or bad, I'll believe you. π
It's "How to Dial a Murder".
Are we good now?
Soooooo close. I really mean it you missed it by like 4 episodes. Well, 10 years. But only 4 episodes lol
shareI didn't want to freak you out too much, "Rest in Peace, Mrs. Columbo" aired yesterday and "Uneasy Lies the Crown" airs today.
Thought I'd give you a good episode rather than a mediocre one.
At least I didn't go for "Murder with Too Many Notes" or "Murder, a Self Portrait".
It's all about perspective π
Well I do appreciate that. I have to say watching the show again I feel the 80s to 90s stuff isn't as good. Haven't watched columbo in years but the 70s stuff holds up very well to how I remember how great the show was. Bu the 80/90s stuff just seems awash with that period down to the current over use of saxophone in sex and the married detective.
shareI'll always have time for Colombo but the pre-80's stuff was certainly the best by far.
That's not to say there hasn't been decent murder mystery stories written since then, just not usually for Colombo. I don't know what happened there within that fantastic franchise they had going.
Give "Castle" a go if you don't mind a goofy but fairly straight faced murder mystery whodunnit from recent years FordFairlane - particularly if you like contemporary culture and popular fiction. It's no Magnum PI but it's not far from it either π
You wound me, sir. Thinking I have not already watched all of castle. Even that meh ending they came up with when they couldn't decide if they were cancelling the show or not.
shareI'll certainly accept that the last two seasons were not always at their best but there sure were at least a few good episodes in each.
The ending, and more importantly how it came about, sickened me. What a waste of a beautiful love story with the potential to be remembered fondly for decades to come.
I'm sorry for offending you but we cannot always expect people to have seen the shows that we have seen.
That is why Forever was cancelled βΉ
