Yeah?

Care to boldly predict that it will gross over $450million like the Oceans 11-remake did?

IN 2001 DOLLARS?

to help
Ocean 11 in adjusted was 61 mil
Ocean 12 57 mil adjusted
Ocean 13 48 mil adjusted

So it did not earn more, also it opened in over 4000 theaters which none of the previous films did and had a lower per screen average unadjusted compared to the previous three.

Also no large group was boycotting this film, in fact there are articles out saying as a whole this film was not receiving the animosity that Ghostbusters received. ITs lazy and has a DTV premise but as a whole it did not have a legion of people against it. It does have the 1 star issue but as usual they are wiped out by the 10 star ones.

Just to compare the silliness of this..Ghostbusters (2016), a film considered a failure, opened more than GB and GB 2 combined unadjusted of course.

Good analysis, but the level of butthurt on this forum about casting women is very interesting...

Personally, I think people are still processing their Last Jedi wounds and thus were probably a bit hyperbolic about the whole thing... Are they really upset that women are "culturally appropriating" male culture?! That's abit absurd...

The whole lets-cast-all-women version of a popular movie to squeeze a few tens of millions of profit out of a stale property thing, a female Rat Pack, wouldn't be such a hot topic if it wasn't for Last Jedi as well as the whole Harvey moment... In reality it's probably just a cash grab and not a cultural statement...

Is the movie itself transgressive? Did they poke fun at Sinatra or Clooney in a less than playfull way? It seems they're just celebrating the Rat Pack idea... I haven't seen it, but might go if my friends decide we should... Haven't heard any of the women I know mention it yet, but they tend to prefer horror movies...

Anyway, I think you're on the right track as to the wider story, but it's clear that MovieChat has a different slant... Which makes sense given how small this forum still is...

I think as a whole the recent Ghostbusters probably did the most damage as far as people reaction to some of this type of casting and film making.

Oh, yes... That one as well.
