When will far left hollywood die?
Films like this are absolute nonsense.
shareThen vote with your wallet. Do not attempt to buy ticket for this, don't buy the dvd / bluray, don't stream, don't view the YouTube trailers, and don't discuss or mention this anywhere. That way when most people do this, Hollywood will die.
shareI don't think that can work. For example, if America is racist then where are the pro racism movies? Hollywood does not seem interested in catering to our interests. They are behaving more like a propaganda arm for an advertising industry where making money directly is a secondary goal to making money indirectly. This is why they continue to push agendas that are not profitable until they are.
shareOnly a complete moron would actually be bothered by a movie like this being made.
shareWhy is this any more nonsense than Clooney's Ocean's 11? That was a remake. Why wasn't that nonsense?
shareWell, it's happened for 80 odd years, hopefully it will die.
shareCan someone fill me in?
Does left in this case mean political left?
What are the effects of having left leaning Hollywood big shots?
What makes this film a product of "left" ?
why is that bad?
I think they mean the political left in the current American democratic party sense of the word... So a focus on identity politics rather than political economy (e.g. working class concerns, egalitarianism, socialism, etc...)...
As to the arguements on whether this is bad or not, I think it's a matter of politics vs. aesthetics mostly. There seems to be a trade-off... As for other people's arguements above, well, I think they are clear about where they're coming from...
But for Ocean's 8, I don't feel very strongly about it... It's clearly brand extension... A way to market a similar concept/brand to a new demographic... Seems more of a consumerist move than an ideological one, but the movie itself (actually a trilogy) will show us whether this move is consumerist or ideological... Time will tell...
Left "liberal" Hollywood keeps thinking it would be a good idea to remake classic movies with genderswapped roles IE Ghostbusters, Oceans, and the quality is terrible. Worse still, modern sequels like Star wars don't even get out untouched, as its seething with liberal ideology. Even farther, republican, right, or conservative views in media are Immediately shut down. Look at Rosanne's situation: I'm not a fan of hers per say, but it shows the clear political double standards in todays society.
shareso what im getting is: Lefty liberals have sexual equality on their radar , and republicans want to keep women in their place - the kitchen.
is that it?
There's double standards on both sides. Conservatives defended Roseanne for freedom of speech, but then cried about Samantha Bee and demand she be fired. How is that not a double standard? They try to have it both ways just like the left, but you don't point that out.
And Roseanne has a history of saying racist comments. This was one too far for ABC clearly.
Also, Clooney's Ocean's 11 is a remake....
I don't think that's true. Conservatives only used that as an example of a double standard by liberals. But even if conservatives actually did want Samantha Bee fired and Rosanne retained, what happened in reality was the reverse. So that tells you that liberals are the ones with the power and who use it against conservatives. I m surprised so many liberals can continue to be liberals.
shareThey work for two different networks. If Samantha Bee was on ABC, then you'd have a point. But you're saying you expect two different networke to react the exact same way. That's just stupid. It's not a double standard for a different network to have a different reaction.
Using their power against conservatives lol. Yeah, because conservatives have NO power at all. They're all helpless. Yeah, that's totally true.
Yeah it was because they were different networks....lol
Liberals are the worst apologists ever, can’t even admit obvious double standards even when they smack you in the face.
Samantha Bee is protected because she’s a Liberal, this is the only reason she kept her job. Had she been a conservative her ass would have been fired immediately, regardless of the network.
But the more this crap keeps on happening, the more likely Trump will serve a 2nd term. The hypocrisy is causing even some on the left to shift right.
Because conservatives are so open about their double standards, right? It's not like they're open about how hypocritical they can be. Where was your outrage when Scott Baio called Clinton a cunt but was still spoke at the Republican convention? Yeah, no double standards at all.
How is screeching that Roseanne shouldn't have been fired but demanding Bee should be not a double standard? With Roseanne it's free speech, but with Bee it's not? Okay.
I gave you the benefit of the doubt but you are using this tired argument? It doesn't even sound good. At least you did not blame advertisers and expect us to believe different tv channels run different commercials.
shareBut conservatives screeching FREE SPEECH for Roseanne isn't a tired argument? It's the most laughable defense possible. As if people haven't lost jobs for things they said forever.
shareDouble standard? So Kathy Griffin didn't face any consequences for her offense, I see.
shareAs opposed to the poignant, socially uplifting, intellectually challenging Sinatra Oceans Eleven or the Clooney Trilogy? You're right....how DARE they demean the important messages those movies had! Remember how they caused REAL discussion and impacted real social change?
Admit, girls scare you.
never going to die - it'll just keep gettin' worse and worse.
We've been falling since the earliest women's movements in the 1900s and 1800s. After the early 1960s it's been a nose dive.
I know, it's crazy. Impossible to find good movies nowadays, without liberal/feminist/PC/SJ/socialist bullcrap. There were still very good ones in the 70s and 80s.
I remember a time when filmmakers could cater to a demographic, like women, without misogynist snowflakes calling it liberalism/sjw/etc.
sharenot sure what you are talking about.
"catering to a demographic" does not involve attempting to erase gender roles .
misogynist, by 21st century standards, I am. ashamed of it, I am not.
people on the street or in the dojo generally do not refer to me as a "snowflake." lol.
You are a snowflake when you're offended and whining about movies.
So what are your thoughts on women that are misogynistic by today's standards?
I'm rarely offended. I is calling bullshit on bullshit.
not sure what you mean by the last question. If you mean women that aren't feminist, my thoughts are that they are deliciously attractive.
You are offended and angry about this movie. That is a snowflake move.
You said you're a misogynist by today's standards. I'm asking what are your thoughts or views that make you one.
quit expostulatin'.
I believe in traditional gender roles. and typically within about 10 meters of where I stand, traditional gender roles occur.
So why do you wanna know?
Dunkirk. Darkest Hour. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri. It. Stronger. Blade Runner 2049. Logan. Wind River. War for the Planet of the Apes. The Lost City of Z. John Wick 2.
Those movies not exist for you? Or are you just whining for no real reason? Come up with better "arguments", son.
you need to come up with a better brain, if your response to a factual statement about modern cinema is a list of random movies.
You said its impossible to find good movies now without them having the stuff you're crying and whining about. I listed some from last year that aren't at all liberal or feminist or sjw or the other crap you're having a fit over. Understand now? Am I speaking slowly enough? There are tons of good movies, you just either dont see them or refuse to admit it so you can keep crying and whining.
sharelike I said, quit expostulatin' about nothing.
