To be fair there are only a handful of Aussie movies with that premise, but it does seem like that’s the reputation Australian film (and Australia in general) has with many people. Thanks very much Wolf Creek!
I would say urban dramas make up the majority of Australian movies, it’s just that very few people outside of Australia get to see many of them these days. It’s a bit of a shame.
It dates back to Picnic At Hanging Rock (a favorite of mine btw)
