This is a very small thing but it bugged me as it was so often repeated! You do not address a king as Your Highness - it is Your Majesty. Your Highness is reserved for princes and princesses.

I'd take that as her being a foreigner who's not familiar with court etiquette.

Actually the honorific of "Your Highness" is quite acceptable in many instances in European Royal Houses. Other titles used are My Liege, Your Majesty, Sire, or Your Grace (England until the reign of Henry VIII).

Yes, it's acceptable - for prince/esses. Not for kings/queens. Any staffer would be briefed. A lot of productions are extrenmely sloppy with this - it doesn't surprise me that a made-for-tv movie would be as well.

Those who study history are doomed to watch others repeat it.
