Is this in the film continuity or not they keep going back and forth

I am just as confused as to if it's connected to the films. The people behind the show seem very ambiguous about its connection to the X Men Cinematic Universe.

Wait... there's continuity with the XMen movies?!???!!???

They said yes. They're being coy as to how they'll do it, but they said that it will eventually link up.
