Wasn't there already a movie about this?

Seems vaguely familiar to me.

It's called AVATAR THE LAST AIR BENDER, kek!

There's a lot of Avatar vibes in that trailer. Even the narration sounds like Katara.

THANK YOU! I literally just watched it a few hours ago and it's been bugging me! Like I genuinely knew that it all seemed & felt familiar but I just couldn't tell why.

Girl is born special and only has to realize her special place in the grand scheme of things? Mulan?

reply

Neo.

reply

and what was so familiar about it? it would`ve been better if u elaborated of why it was familiar 2 u.

reply

How to Train your Dragon, basically the same thing but with a chick.

reply

okay. why didn`t u say so in the first place?

reply

I dont know, lol. I thought people would see the similarity like me.

reply

well, ok. but at least i didn`t...

reply

and i`m not tryin`2 be condescending or somethin`, but u`ll have 2 remember that not everyone is goin`2 see the similarities right away if u don`t elaborate.

reply

No worries, I get it now, just thought someone else would see the similarity. All good bruh.

reply

Well, it's the standard Fantasy genre plot, you know, the one where there's some supernatural threat to the entire world, and a protagonist realizes they're the one person who can stop the threat and save the world, possibly because they had something to do with creating or awakening the threat? And you know, they set out on a quest and make friends of people from all the nations/races/species that are considered good guys, and one of the friend is a supernatural being with mysterious powers but isn't available to help the hero at the biggest moment of crisis, and the hero eventually saves the world through goodness or moral superiority rather than violence? You know, the plot's that's been used in a bazillion variations since the publication of "Lord of the Rings"?

So yeah, it's THAT plot again, but like a lot of good fantasy fiction, it's entertaining enough. The setting looks cool and is kind of original, the hero is likable enough, amusing things happen, and the finale is touching. Worth my $7 a month for Disney+, along with watching the Thor movies a few more times.

It is very formulaic. There is bits and pieces in it from all kinds of (animated) movies. I can only imagine what the pitch of this movie must have been like: they must have named about a dozen other movies in it. :)
