More dog killings for Anderson?

He has killed dogs in some of his other movies. So will the carnage continue? Did he make this movie just to kill a bunch of dogs?

reply

They are only pretend dogs.

reply

Yes.... No real dogs were killed or even harmed. I assume

reply

Pretend or not, he likes killing dogs in his movies.

reply

And Vin Diesel likes to race cars in his movies.

reply

Which directors "like" to kill people in their movies?

Awesome site for you:

If you want to know if an animal gets killed in a movie, real or fake, or even just as a stupid plot device to jerk a few tears at the end, they usually cover it.

reply

I will check it out. One of the worst examples of a dog getting killed is a movie called Weiner Dog. I can't see that one even though I have liked the directors movies in the past.

reply

Thanks for the warning.I just checked out a review for it... dog lovers are warned to stay away.

I agree, even if it's not real, some directors use a dog's death for cheap shock value, or in some cases "humor".

I gotta say though, there's a funny scene in "Something About Mary" where Ben Stiller is wrestling with a 5 lb dog, but the dog is soo obviously a fake prop. That was pretty hilarious.

reply

In There's Something About Mary, the fight is so ridiculous that you can't take it seriously. With Weiner Dog, I heard that the dog gets hit by a car, which is bad enough, but then the dog repeatedly gets run over by several cars. Horrible.

reply

Wiener Dog is a good film. I don't recall if a dog died in the film or not, but even if so-- who cares? It's obviously fake. People are (fake) killed in movies all the time. Does that stop you from seeing a film? If not, why would the (faked) death of a dog keep you away?

reply

I heard the dog was hit once and then hit over and over by other cars. I didn't see it so I am only going from what I heard, but if you don't remember something like that happened then that is strange.

reply

Name a dog (animated) that died in this movie.
This movie is fantastic for dog lovers.

reply

I agree. And honestly, say the title out loud and you'll see that Anderson loves dogs...

reply

That goes over so many people's heads.

Isle of dogs = I love dogs

Maybe they don't get it because they pronounce it incorrectly.

reply

I never particularly like the killing of dogs in live action films. But I suppose I dealt with it better with this being an animation. I must say that this is a good film. I've rated it 8/10.

reply

It didn't bother me too much here either. He has killed a fair amount of dogs in his movies though, so I thought the carnage might continue here also. I suppose here it had to, since the dogs were sick on an island. Generally I don't like how almost every movie with a dog in it has that dog die sometime during the movie.

reply

The dogs being sick was key in softening the death of dogs in this. I don't mind so much when a dog's death is used for pathos at the end of a film. It may help children in the learning of grief. What I don't particularly like is when they use dogs, and other pets, as a victim of spite killing. They do that fairly often in Lifetime movies.

reply

Hearing that, I am glad I don't watch Lifetime movies.
