At the London Film Festival

The film premiered here earlier this evening and present for the screening was Sergei Polunin himself along with the director.

The film is an interesting contrast between a tale of his family and their struggles in bleak Ukraine and as immigrants - legal or otherwise - in Europe working to fund Sergei's ballet studies. It is a sad tale and the more interesting aspect of the film especially when Sergei discusses, as an adult, with his mother about going into ballet. Then there is footage and lots of it, of Sergei at work and play. The dancing footage is breathtaking and the opening and closing scenes of the film are stunning.

Mr Polunin had a lot to say after the screening and received virtually all the attention from the audience. He is continuing dance and, for now, is Russian based.

I cannot wait to see the film again and would love some of the stills to be made into large film posters as Sergei is the embodiment of an icon.

Ever tried, ever failed?
No matter.
Try again, fail again.
Fail better.
